Question About installing an EVIC unit in 04 Intrepid.

Quick question about installing an EVIC unit. After it was suggested to me I've decided to do it. Did my research and install will be quite easy.

Found a unit for $35 at the local wreckers if I pull it myself.

I know that if i want it to be plug and play I need to pull the wiring out also.. Here's my question

For the ambient temp sensor do I need to pull that wiring out also or do the base SE models have the wiring there but just not hooked up to anything?

Second question where is the Sensor located exactly (gonna try to pull one from the donor car.) I already know that I need a donor car to be 2001 + for it to be compatible with the BCM.

EDIT--- sorry forgot to ask.. with the ambient sensor be confused because I have a Manual Climate and not ATC? And is it really important to install sensor at all?

The temp sensor is located under the front bumper and all cars have, no need to install anything else. If you're grabbing an EVIC, make sure to grab one that doesn't have PSI so you avoid the warning at every start up. Those are only found in 2001 300M's and some newer Concorde Limited IRC. Also, if you're ripping the harness out might as well grab the lighted visors and the auto-dim mirror to complete the package.

I'd definitely get the auto-dim rear view mirror.

I'm not so hot on the lighted visors ...

I don't get why people are bothered with the TPSI warning when sensors aren't installed?
My EVIC "dings" once, everytime I start the ignition with a visual message....... So what, LoL

And, truth be told, at least some of us deal with the same *ding* even with sensors because the spare is low ...

LOL! Easy to say but have you actually tried it? That's a PITA - especially if you have anything at all in the net.

That is the one huge drawback to the TPS's. With stock Trep R/T rims they don't seal so well.
(And I don't like the look of the 300M wheels, it's just not for me.)

On the other hand, they have saved me twice from having to pull over on the freeway with a flat tire. Both times I could monitor the tire pressure and make it to an off-ramp. The added safety in those times of emergency is worth the hassle.

I'm hoping I come across one with the sensors on the wheels... the person I talked to at the wreckers didn't even know what OTIS or EVIC was hence why I got quoted $35...

Don't know if I'm gonna go for the auto dim mirror..

Do it! I love mine. The only thing I wish is I had the auto-dim side to match it. The wiring is easy. When you grab the EVIC harnes, the auto-dim harness is part of it. You just have to put a minor notch at the front of your headliner to make room for the mirror harness.

EVIC Installed but some functions not working.

OK so I went to the wreckers and unfortunately the only EVIC they had was from an 00 Grand Cherokee Limited.

Got it installed (doesn't sit flush on the back by mirror) everything seems to work fine --programing options (except I didn't see one for Sentry key programing)

this is what's confusing me. I open the driver door no display, close then open Passenger and it says "2 Doors Open."

Does this when I only open either Front Passenger, or either of the 2 back doors. But non are open 2 at a time.

Did I pick up a bogus EVIC?

2000 MY EVIC are limited, 02+ would be more compatible with your 04, JFYI.
