Sad Another help question on 3.5 ho swap!

Ok here heres tge story and hope dan is on to help me on this.

I have a 2002 dodge intrepid with 2.7 that went to shit. I went to the junk yard to pull a 3.5 out for a swap. But they do not have 02-04to out here for some reason. So i found a good lhs 98 with a good 3.5 ho in it.

After about going to the junk yard about 3 times an grabed everything that i forgot the first time. Commenced on pulling the old 2.7 out the 2002. Using dans help to convert and old engine to a newer model. I ordered all the parts i needed for the total conversion. I switched out from a 2002 300m 3.5 H.O:
Upper plenum with elbow and TB
flywheel from the 2.7 to the 98 3.5 H.O
cam sprocket
engine harness
plugged the erg valve on the head.
power steering reservoir came off the 98 (are the plugs diffrent from 2002?)
Alternator

Ran into a couple of problems. Looking at the 3.5. On the passenger side next to the plenum there are 2 Vacum tubes that run right to the side in the plenum and one just under the colant inlet in the front if the moter. The 2.7 already had the vacum lines but on the other side. Do i just use the 2.7 vacum lunes and plug up the holes on the passenger side or do i need to use both.

Also. The starter does not go with the harness do i need a 3.5 starter?
And the power steering also has a diffrent plug sensor. Do i need to get another sensor off another 3.5 . All help is appriciated.
odo ororwhere these vacum tubes run on the passenger to the plenum

Starter is different, yes.

I don't know that the 2.7 flywheel fits the 3.5 - maybe it does though.

Besides just the alternator, apparently you need all the external accessories - but don't quote me.

I think the power steering sensor was only on the 98 models.

Don't worry about the p.s. pressure switch. If you were doing the opposite tranpslant, you would have a harness connector with nothing to plug into - and you would simply ground the single wire to prevent a code that doesn't apply on later year cars.

Yes, they are both correct (Micholob and Peva). The 02 pcm will not expect any input from the p/s pump.
You've swapped the 02 harness over to the 98 engine and there is no connector for that switch in the 02 harness. Don't worry about it.

The vacum lines: You do not need the vacum lines on the passenger side of the engine.
In 02 those lines along with the solenoid were relocated back by the brake vacum booster, under the windshield wiper linkage.
One line runs to the top back of the plenum.
The other connects to one of the metal vent lines going back to the gas tank.

Another question. Dan said i can use my flywheel from my 02 2.7 in the 98 3.5 is that because from 02-04 the flywheels were the same and the ecu reads the ffly wheeels diffrently

And all i have to do is plug the holes from the pas side

Dan said you *can* or *can't* use the flywheel from your 2.7?

There is a tone ring welded to the flywheel. The spacing of the holes in the tone ring changed in 2002.
Put the two flywheels side by side and you'll see that the tone ring is the only difference.
Be sure not to mix them up.
Unbolt the flywheel from the 2.7 and bolt it onto the 3.5.

On the vacum tubes: I mis-read your post. I checked it again.
I think you're talking about the vacuum line that runs along the passenger side edge of the plenum.
It goes from the SRV Valve just inside the front of the plenum, along the edge of the plenum back to the SRV Vacuum Reservoir.
The Resevoir is just above the passenger side exhaust manifold and should be connected to the two tubes in the plenum directly above it.
There is a fairly decent picture and explanation on pg 14-40 of the 1998 - 2001 FSM.

You do not need to use any vacuum lines from the 2.7.
You only need to connect the one line from the Purge Solenoid (under the windshield wiper assembly) to the top of the plenum (just in front of the throttle body)
.
.
