Problem, Evic Recieved on Ebay

Is there a Difference between the 2? Are the features exactly the same? Homelink, Instant MPG

I ordered a #56042749AB, that what the picture on Ebay listed.

The guy sent me something with this model # on the back?
VC52443GBSF
Also behind the buttons on the back of the unit, there are like these 4 white plastic tabs imbeded in the black, 2 of the 4 are misssing.

The unit looks the same from the outside Menu written on the button etc.
In the listing he said it was taken from a 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE

I'm afraid this might be a newer model and not have Homelink or Instant MPG? Plus the 2 missing tabs, are the missing tabs going to be a problem.

The guy's rating is 99.8 feedback.I'm sure the guy will work with me if it's a problem. Sad thing is he told me he had 2 of them and when I questioned him about the one I wanted might possibly have a scratched screen, he said he would give me the best one. Now the other one is gone too.

Anyone know about this new model number? I want the older model with the homelink and instant MPG

Post a picture of what you received. I'm surprised you didn't deal with someone here on the forum. Heck..I've got multiple OTIS and EVIC units. I probably even have a wiring harness. Could've done an OTIS with harness for around $50 and an EVIC with harness for around $75.

Or post a link to the Ebay auction you went with and we can take a look.

Also if it truly was out of a 2000 Jeep GC...I'd bet it was an OTIS. Easy way to tell is if the function/descriptions aren't printed on the buttons it's an OTIS. An EVIC will have the functions printed directly on the buttons.

EDIT: I just looked at one of my OTIS units. The sticker on the back indicates it's a VA38239RMLG.

On the back there will be places for 3 light bulbs. The bulb sockets will be white in color and around 3/8" in diameter. An EVIC will have four of those bulb sockets and they might be white or black in color.

Also an EVIC will have a part number similar to what you mentioned at the beginning of your post. Regardless of whether it came out of an LH or Jeep.

Ok here is the ebay link as to what I thought I was getting.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/160753456839...84.m1439.l2649
Check out the pictures in the listing and you will see the model I thought I was getting ending in an AB

I just took pictures of what the guy sent me.

This is the back with the weird model number and missing 2 plastic white tabs? Also you can see the green tape in the right hand corner, looks like something copper or metal like under the tape, what is that?

Looks like an EVIC with Homelink in a cover without sunroof controls.

The missing items on the back that you described are most likely the bulb holders for the button illumination. Those are like $5 ea at the dealer and only available there unless you get some from a junkyard. The OTIS and EVIC bulb holders are the same though.

Thats exactly what I'm thinking now too, if it's not giving the Instant MPG contact the seller and either return it or make it good $$$$$

Problem now is I might end up spending more money getting the valve stems for the tires :(

Thanks everyone for your help

That's a very early Jeep EVIC. It's missing two bulb holders for the button illumination on the back(two center ones). The label looks the same as early OTIS. In 2001 or 2002 they switched to a silver metallic label that had the Chrysler part number in the largest font.

Just a heads up some functions of a Jeep EVIC don't display properly in an LH car. One is the number of doors or which door is open warning will be incorrect. There's one or two others but they're minor. Seeing as how you have a 2001 car you should have a majority of the EVIC functions. 2000 and earlier cars could only take advantage of the basic functions of the EVIC similar to what was available in the OTIS. A lot of the programming functions like memory mirrors and others won't be available to you because you have an Intrepid.

Are you sure that has TPMS capabilities? TPMS EVICs came out in 2002 for the LH and Jeep line. If you bought it expecting Tire Pressure Monitoring you got shafted. And TPMS sensors aftermarket are around $40 each.

Thats not making me happy, Now I want the one with an AB so I know all the functions will work for my car.
