Swaping Guage cluster from 300 to intrepid..

Hi once again I'm seeking the knowledge of the Trep Guru's...

I've read around that the clusters can be swapped & I'm looking to do that... What I want to know is if I can take one from a 300 2000-04 and put it in my intrepid SE 04.

Is it just plug & play or do I need to mod? Also will the new cluster display my current odemeter or will it display the one from the doner car?

Just to clearify I don't have AutoShift so I've found alot of doner cars...

Thanks

it can be plug and play, but the auto stick from the 300 will show up,, really not a big deal, I drove my intrepid a couple of years like that, also, if you dont have ABS on your car,, the abs light will be on, cover with black tape is the cure there,,

when I traded my trep in , I told the guy at the Ford dealer it had auto stick,,, collum shift with A/S rare option,,, LOL

LHS cluster is identical to 300M, except w/o A/S. Not sure about '99-'01 to '04 compatibility though.

On the other hand, once you put in an A/S cluster, all you need to do is put in an A/S shifter to have A/S (you might also have to run two wires - piece of cake).

Vehicle mileage is stored in the BCM - swapped cluster doesn't affect that.

Would I have to change the tran or just the shifter to have as? Side note I've found 300's with the same shift sequence "p r n d 3 l"

The auto-stick feature can be added by just tapping into a couple wires in the dash and swapping out the shifter assembly. I have 2 laying around and you can have one pretty cheap if you are interested.

Where abouts are you? I'm in canada... I'm gonna look at the local wreckers first I know I can pick up a cluster there for $25 but also gonna look for the AS feature.. If I can't find one I'll keep you in mind if your close enough (shipping costs)

You're going to want to grab one from a 2002+ plus car just to be safe. Earlier build cars have cluster s that usually don't play nice with the newer ones. You'll get an Airbag, Brake and/or ABS light come one. You might be OK with a 2001 but it's a toss up usually. Also, make sure you get one from a car that doesn't have side airbags unless you have them already. If you're interested I have a 240km/h cluster from an '02 300M Special along with an auto-stick shifter to go along with it that I'd be willing to sell. I'm pretty sure I still have a 300M Special cluster with ABS and Side Airbags deactivated so you don't get a light.

Only problem I would have is with the side airbags. I have abs on my car so I'm good there. Thanks for the info gonna check out the wreckers tomorrow. I'll keep you in mind for the cluster.

Just another quick question. Might have been aswered already.... does it matter if the donor car has side airbags?

Mine has ABS, and Dirver & Passenger airbags I just don't wan idiot lights staying on when they shouldn't be...

If it had side airbags then the light will probably come on.

Yes it does matter if the donor had side air bags and yours doesn't.

All LH cars have driver and passenger airbags for the dash. What's being referred to is side airbags for the seats. These were usually only found on the 300m for I believe 2001 and later as an option.

K cool.. Going to Wreckers today add points if I miss them

Donor car must be 2002+ (mines 04), No side airbags take A/S and Bezel (after searching I like the bezel that came from the 98-99 treps, & cluster 300m. If need bee take cluster from Intrepid with A/S then (after reading) take Film overlay from concord. Don't like the plane jane trep one.

Am I missing anything here?

EDIT* Also can anyone verify if I take the cluster from a 300M 02+ without side bags in my 04 trep that I won't have lights staying on?
