I switched to NGK Iridium Spark Plugs :-D

Despite the negative things I read on here about aftermarket plugs, I FINALLY decided to give it a shot. I DO NOT REGRET IT. My Trep has almost 95k miles now and based on how worn they were, I wouldn't doubt that it never had the spark plugs replaced. My car picks up a lot better now than with the Champion plugs and is a lot more responsive in all situations. The car has a smoooooth idling at red lights and it's so quiet that it sounds like it's turned off but when I accelerate it sounds awesome and it REALLY does accelerate better. Nothing extreme but I CAN REALLY FEEL THE DIFFERENCE. Oh and I replaced all the ignition coil boots with Denso boots which I'm sure helped too. Anywho, I RECOMMEND 'EM.

I know the 300ms had NGKs but then again they're 3.5s. I don't think any 2.7 Treps (my car) came stock with NGKs let alone Iridum NGKs. IIRC 300ms came with platinum NGKs. Those are longevity plugs, the NGK IRIDIUMS are performance plugs. And they perform. Well, so far they do.

I should switch plugs at some point, it's been a while. I really don't remember how long it's been.

The platinums wake up the 2.7 really well too! I had them in mine when I had the 2.7 and you definitely feel the difference. Makes me wonder why I did not stick with the product for my 3.5....

our cars like Champions and NGKs, either are recommended. Just stay away from Bosch. But as far as promoting the NGK Iridium plugs, I think you were probably at the point where almost any (NEW) set of plugs would show a good improvement in throttle response.

I've been running Bosch for a long time now, and they seem to do pretty well. I definitely look forward to a NGK switch to see if I can notice a difference.

I know there's been several people here on the forums who have had rough idling due to sparkplugs, right after they had replaced them with bosch plugs. Not saying that they cause problems for everybody, but some people have noticed issues.

^that^ - you certainly did not prove that the Iridiums make the engine run any better than non-iridiums.

The *only* way I can see to proving if there is a definite power increase is to change over to a more 'basic' plug (closer to, if not OEM) and run the car (Dyno or Butt-Dyno) then allow to cool the engine and replace the plugs with the iridium and repeat the process, BUT you will have to mimic identical driving behavior to know if there is any real advantages to be had.

I can tell you for a fact, that when your car goes from starting by holding your foot to the floor, and almost killing your starter, to starting the second you turn the key, you know you've done right. The Bosch plugs were the WORST decision anyone in the family has made (my parents admitted that they noticed more power, less "gurgling" and an even more pleasant noise at 3,500 RPMs with the Champion coppers.)

300m's came with NGK's OEM. I just replaced mine at 97.5k and the car ran a little better. These spark plugs really do last all were still in functioning order and still going strong!

Wow didn't notice I already posted in this thread.

Later years I believe - earlier years were Champions. I don't think any 2.7's came from the factory with NGK's - only Champions. HOWEVER, NGK/NTK parts (O2 sensors, etc.) work well for everything else on these cars, so their plugs should be fine for a 2.7. Most people do well with the Champions though.
