Rosewood Applique

Going home for three days next week to see the family and the Trep. Wife bought me the rosewood instrument panel applique for valentines day. My maintenance manager told her they have never done one of these. They think I could do it myself.

Told her if she really loved me she would buy a Paxton Turbo kit. Has anyone installed the rosewood yet? Anything I should know before I get home and try to install this myself. I'll take some picks when I'm done.

Thanks in Advance!

Yes! I have the Rosewood applique - and I love it - but take it to the dealer. It's really easy to screw it up, especially using the adhesive accelerator. The pieces are flat, and you have to form them to the contours of the dash. All the while trying to make sure it's going on straight. If they screw up, they buy you a new applique and try again. I've got a corner popped up and they are replacing it free.

Rosewood Dash Pics

Here's a picture of the Mopar dash. I've had it in my 99 with tan interior, and now my 01 with dark grey. I also put it in my moms 01 as well as 2 other company cars. I think it really adds some warmth, especially to the dark interior.

I installed them all my self. I understand somes concern about doing it yourself, but I couldn't see paying the dealer $50 for 20 minutes work. The key is to clean, clean, then CLEAN again the dash where the kit goes with rubbing alcohol. A good test is to take a piece of masking tape and make sure it sticks everywhere you need it. Especially if you have used Armorall or something like it. The only one I had any trouble with was my moms (figures, huh. I still hear shit about it) But one piece seemed to be "less sticxky" than normal. One corner came loose, but I just called my dealer and told him and he replaced it for me. I think it may have helped that he knew I had put several in, plus I bought htem all from him.

SO, what do you think? The Mopars have alot fewer pieces than some, but it definately looks like it came from the factory. I think some of the other ones look overdone.

I'd like to see if anyone has a brushed aluminum/real carbon. Love to see some pictures. I really wanted to do the 300 chrome shifter, but I thought with the wood, it would look strange.

Sorry, the first one was too high quality and I had to cut the hell out of it. This one gives you a better look I think.

$210, and got a 10% discount. Pricey, but when I get my next trep, I'll have a kit in the trunk ready to put on, just like my last 2. I like it that much.

Anyone have any pictures of a carbon fiber dash? Would really like to see that, especially with dark interior and my black car.

Got back late Monday and have been busy with Air Force stuff.
I did the install myself. The steps were simple and easy to do.

Don't have a good web site to post the pic from so I will
attach the pic file. The rosewood looks tight. Enjoy!

The factory wood kit is too lite in color. I would prefer a darker wood.

Has anyone used any of the aftermarket wood kits? Is the quality as good as Mopar?

This is a Med burlwood kit that I installed. Notice the pieces around the instrument cluster as well as several pieces on the window and door areas

DKR! That looks really nice, especially with all of the smaller pieces. How much did that kit cost? If you don't mind me asking.

I think it looks better on a light colored interior like dkrhardy has. I'd be really interested to see what a carbon fiber dash or brushed aluminum dash looks like in the dark interior. (or any Intrepid interior for that matter!)

I love the look of those. I have never seen one in an Intrepid, but they have them as an option on some of the newer cars (only one I can think of is the 2001 Civic EX I test drove). I'm sure it would look sweet as hell in one of our cars.
