Factory Stereo System

Hi Group,

Does anyone know the rms wattage on the factory system. I don't have the Infinity System, but I do have the tweeters up on the A-pilliars. I think it's the 120 watt system.

Thanks for your help!

Best Regards and Happy New Year!

From Chrysler Canada's website:

"Chrysler Intrepid offers several audio options. Standard on the SE and ES is an AM/FM stereo radio with CD player. On R/T you'll also find a 120-watt amplifier and six speakers. Also available on ES and R/T is the cassette player with 4-disc in-dash changer, 240-watt amplifier with nine InfinityŽ speakers in seven locations and steering wheel mounted audio controls."

I tend to think 120 watts is the peak power output of the amp. I'm curious about the rms power. (For example the Sony head-unit that I'm considering is 23.2W rms power-times-4 channels; but the peak voltage is 52W X 4.) Will I be better off using the factory amp or the Sony internal amp?

Best Regards to all!

The LH second generations have 3 levels per the electrical diags book I have. The first two are 120 watt Infinity I 6 speaker system, 240 watt Midline 7 speaker system located to the right of the glove box. You can see if you open the box and look in the upper right. You should see the ribs of the cooling veins. There is also a 360 watt Infinity II 9 speakers system, but it is located in the right side of the trunk area per my book. I am not sure if Intrepid ever had this option though (in the trunk amp that is - I know the 9 speakers option is available). This is info from a LH body manual so it may have been option in LHS or 300M.

Unfortunatly there is no listing to the RMS values. Sorry.
