Trailer hitch?

Anyone ever install a trailer hitch on a 2nd gen?

I have a 3.2 on my 2.7 tranny so she's got a little more torque now.. I have a popup camper and just thought I'd see if anyone had tried it..

Thanks!

I wish I had taken pictures of the 2nd gen I worked on last week. It had a 2" receiver and was welded to the unibody framework.

I have two Hidden Hitch brand trailer hitches for the Intrepid in storage. Never installed them. Class I and Class II. I think the rating on the Class I is 1500 lbs and the Class II is 2500 lbs. Just some info for you. I can be swayed to sell one or both of them!

I actually just finished installing one on my '02 Intrepid last week. I found a used one on Kijiji from a 300M. Reese lists two different p/n's for the M and the Intrepid. The 300M one bolts directly under the rear frame using 2 existing holes and 2 new ones. The Intrepid one bolts up by the rear re-bar and then has some support "arms" coming down to the same 2 existing holes as the M hitch. The main difference with the M hitch was that the receiver actually goes right up against the bumper on my Intrepid. This wouldn't be a problem on an M though. Since my hitch was used, I ended up having to make some plates with bolts tack welded on that were then slipped into the frame. I did this instead of going out and buying new hardware since it was difficult to find. For wiring, you can get all the wires you need on the drivers side, behind the rear wheel well. I installed my hitch to tow a small snowmobile trailer, well under 2000 lbs.

I have a Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch (Model 36268, i think) installed. It's a 1.25 square receiver hitch. The hitch itself is rated:
- Maximum gross trailer weight: 3,500 lbs
- Maximum tongue weight: 300 lbs
However my ('98 ES) car is rated:
- Maximum gross trailer weight: 2,000 lbs
- Maximum tongue weight: 200 lbs
I used the wiring kit from U-Haul (~$17 three years ago) which worked well.

How much does your trailer weigh?

My car isn't listed (2.7 ES) but if I select SE then it says 1500lbs which is fair enough...
