OTIS (yup, yet another thread)

OK, got my OTIS today. It has the Step button so I didn't end up with one of the newer OTIX (or whatever you call it) which is good, because I have a 99 and all the cool little functions wouldn't work.

Here's a pic:

Here are the wires that come directly out of the computer part of the OTIS:

There are four wires coming out of the OTIS,
  • Blue/White
  • Purple/Yellow
  • Pink
  • Black/Green

OK, which one does what? I'm assuming ground, power and PCI Bus...but what's the forth one for? And which one is which?

Help?

Thanks!

P.S. I got the sunroof controls and I don't even have a sunroof! So if anyone wants the switch, let me know. I'll find something else to put in the hole where the switch goes.

This is good. If we get lucky maybe this will be an adhoc "how-to". The numerous other threads were getting hard to follow.

At this point I would kill for one. The fact that you have one with sunroof controls is the icing on the cake. If you (or anyone else) has a lead on one, let me know.

According to my service manual, the wiring goes like this:

Blue/White Fused Ignition Switch Output
Black/Green Ground
Pink Fused B(+)
Violet/Yellow PCI Bus

I have not had time to slap my OTIS in yet, but I can't wait to do so. I have not finished looking through the service manual yet, where is the junction block (Body Control Module) physically located in the car?

OK...here we go:

Here is a diagram of the junction block:

Junction Block

In the side of the Body Control Module (located on the Junction Block), you see spots for 4 modules to be connected into it.

Here are the wiring Diagrams for each one:

Module C1

Module C2

Module C3

Module C4

20-Way Connector

On each picture I have highlighted the wire that supplies PCI Bus communications on each module (that connects into the BCM). Just tap into any of these wires for your PCI Bus wire going to the OTIS and you are as good as gold!!!

I have one question JigSawMan, the pink wire (Fused B +) is that a power ON all the time? What does that represent?

I smell a "How To" on it's way" ;)

Sure thing...as long as it isn't raining or anything. ;) Do you have access to a garage? My garage is filled with old trucks.

Well you can come out here if you want and we can work in my garage. The spot next to mine has been vacant for weeks. The only problem is the lighting isnt the greatest in the garage... but i guess its better than sitting in the freezing weather or in the rain. I guess bring a flashlight to get in those extra dark spots.

Do you want to come out Saturday afternoon? I have something to do after 6pm... but i am available anytime before.

What do you think?

oh yeah this may help too...

the 2 wires running to the fusebox plug from the console are the ones on top, i wired the rest up by the console since they were right there, I just tapped into em. simple as that.

Well, if the BUS message appears, then you have an open or short in the PCI Bus wire. (That's the purple/yellow wire on the left in your picture) You can try rewiring that wire or jostling it around in where the connection is.

Thing is, I asked my brother why you wouldn't be getting the odometer...he said that the PCI Bus handles all of the functions on the OTIS (except for the compass). So in other words, if one function is not working, then all the functions shouldn't be working. It may be fault in the OTIS itself why the odometer isn't working.

But, try goofing around with the wire, you may get lucky.

Good Luck and thanks for the wiring picture...that is a major help!

OK call me crazy, but if you look at Thrasher's pic, he's got the GR/BLK wire going to pin 1 in connector 4. According to the connector pic, that's the LR Door Ajar Switch Sense. Does that make sense?

Sorry, I am crazy. I should have been looking at the 20-way connector. If pin 10 is the bus, then the GR/BLK wire is connected to ground (as per the OTIS specs). So I guess you could grab this ground up by the OTIS itself instead of running an extra wire to the fuse block.
