auugghh-nearly fried electrical system while trying to hook up OTIS today.

Ok, I followed the dirctions for hooking up the OTIS today and nearly killed my electrical system. I have 4 wires coming out out the OTIS which are purple/yellow, pink, black/green and blue/white. I pulled the black/green wire and purple/yellow and plugged them into the fuse block into the exact same spots as where they came out of the donor car's harness (at least I think I did-can't remember what wire went where but I looked at the donor harness and it seemed correct). I just plugged them into the same spot on MY harness. I then spliced the pink (from the overhead) to the pink on My harness and the blue/white (from the overhead) to the same wire on my harness and the next thing I know 1/2 my guages aren't working (fuel reading empty, check engine light on, airbag light on, etc) the odometer on the dash is reading "no bus" and the disc player is not working either. What I need to know is when I splice the pink and blue/white wires near the fuse box-I make the cut and now I have 1 wire out of my existing harness, the other wire from the overhead and the other end of the cut wire from my original harness. Do I hook up the pink wire and blue/white wires from the overhead to the wire still attached to my fuse block (original wire) or do I hook all three free ends to together? The other question in what slots do I put the purple/yellow and black/green wire. The strange thing is when I hooked up using the donor car's harness straight I was able to get it work but I lost the sunroof and the rear reading lights. I yanked the wiring and rehooked up my existing wires so only the sunroof and lights are working but not the display. I have to use the overhead console to cover the hole in the headliner. HELP!!!!

OK, that doesn't look like mine... I spliced into the blue wire and did something else... I don't remember... BUT, Thrasher, didn't someone say your odometer on the OTIS doesn't work? Is that how everyone else has theirs hooked up??

I hooked up mine the way Thrasher did and the odometer doesn't work, I don't care either way since I can always use the one in the dash. I did have the complete harness from the donor car and when I plugged it directly the odometer still wouldn't display.

Well, my odometer works. I like yours because it looks cleaner, but maybe something is wrong with that setup...

I'm not sure. I'm going to unhook everything next weekend (minor electrical problem), and I'll see what happens if I set it up like yours. As for pictures... mail me a digital camera, and I'll take all the pics you want. ;)

I had a third wire on mine that I disconnected, it was purple/black on the donor car's harness went under the purple/yellow wire. I think it goes to the auto dimming mirror. I'm going to yank the cover off my Dad's LHS (since its also a 2001 car) and see where the wires run. The only difference is his is an OTIX.

"mild electrical problem" - My horn and headlights no longer work. The dealer wants me to take "all those wires" out of the fuse box before they can do any warranty work. Even though my OTIS has been in for a year...

Oh boy-makes me wonder what I'll have to go through when I take mine in on Saturday. I checked my Dad's LHS and found out that its wired exactly like Thrashers is but did notice something else. If you pull the fuse cover away (on the LHS) there is a white connector with two wires running from it (its mounted outside the fuse block on the steel curved piece. His has the other end also hooked up. I'm not sure if this is to control the OTIX since that module is programmable.

I rented a base Intrepid this weekend. It had that connector also, but I'm 90% sure that my car doesn't have it. The mystery continues...
