A ton of questions....

Ok boys (and girls?). After long deliberation and thought, I've decided to KEEP my R/T. However, with that comes a few "changes".

I'm looking for some information here.

1) Pictures of Treps with 18"s installed and NO drop kit.

2) The above WITH a drop kit.

3) Some ideas for a NON-muscle car sounding exhaust. I don't want Flowmasters tinny rumble. I want the high revving roar of a fatty chrome outlet. High-techish.

4) Whatever else you can yell at me to help me boost the performance out of my ol' R/T. I love the power it has now, but it's just not like a WRX (what I was going to get). I want to drop down the 0-60's as much as humanly possible, without huge, expensive modifications. A FAST car is not what I want, I want a QUICK car. Something that can go stop-light to stop-light in no time. Something FUN to drive.

5) Suspension mods? Any ideas? Strut tower braces? Thicker roll bars? Lowering springs? What would you guys suggest to get this 3500 pound hog to handle like a maniac!?

6) If it's one thing I need...it's encouragement.

Oh yeah...the most important stuff...I forgot to ask!

1) Those of you with subwoofers in the trunk, how is the bass-pass-thru. That's the amount of bass that's passed through the seats, and the amount which is lost in the transaction. Especially those WITHOUT the fold down rear seat. Like us R/Ters.

2) Anyone with a LARGE amount of bass? ie; 2 15's, or more? What's the power drain on the stock electrical system? Something I would need to re-work? Or would a new battery, capaciter, and wiring to the amp work sufficiant?

3) Anyone with a "fold-out" head unit? Like the Alpine CVA-1005? I want to get the Kenwood unit that has built in DVD and TV tuner. Costs a bunch, but if I'm going to do something, it's going to be done right the first time!

4) What's the easiest way to get around the stock speaker system? The tweeter pods in the door frames are annoying to me. I would much rather they not be there. Is this difficult? Or should I just keep them there and add a couple aftermarket units to the pods? I'm going with Diamond Audio mids and highs. Probably a pair of 6.5" component sets up front, and a set for the rear doors. And most likely, 2 Orion HCCA 15's in the trunk with 600-1000 watts a peice. Thoughts?

Damn. sounds like you are going to have a fun winter with the car. If you do get rid of the speaker 'pods' I'll take em! Just shoot me a note with a price when you yank them out (I'll want the grills to go with it, I'll send you my covers to fill the space)

Happy mod'ing

Hey bro I can tell you this if you wanna get subs. get something powerful and your going to need to put on another battery. Cause right now my lights dim like crazy.

I used to have a battery and stuff in my trunk connected to an isolator. So what happened was water leaked thru the spoiler and ruined my isolator. there was like 6 inches of water in the tire area. And the dealer ship didn't want to pay. I could have sued but IM not that type of person. so they put sealant where the spoilers screws were at.

And the damage was like 800 dollars just the isolator alone was $300.

But if you wanna get something strong then your going have to pay at least 300-400 dollars for you to install a battery. That's only if you get a powerful system and your lights dim. if they dnot dim then you dont have to get one.

I am especially interested in this. I want to get some type of sub for my trunk. I have a QLS 680W total amp that I can use. I think it does about 250W RMS bridged. Im looking to possibly get a Bazooka tube. Maybe a 10".

Brad has a bunch of stereo shit in his car... saw it first hand at the NYC meet. He was running off a single battery and he didnt mention anything about draining the power. Maybe he can offer some advice.

Forget getting an extra battery. An extra battery isn't going to fix the dimming lights problem. What you need is a bigger alternator, or get your stock one rewired. When your lights dim, that means you are overtaxing your charging system. The heart of your charging system is the alternator, not the battery. If you like to listen to your stereo with the car turned off, than yes get an extra battery.

I'm running a Bazooka sub with 100W amp on top of my infinity system, no problems at all, no dimming at all, even with all other accessories on (AC, headlights etc) this isn't the biggest sub/amp combo but it still sounds great. The factory system should've included a sub.

I have a 2000 R/T with no fold down seats and 2 JLAudio 12s in a sealed box and I find that the seats hold all the sound in. If I pop the trunk the sound coming out is ungodly. I have been told to drill 2 3" holes in the rear deck but I have not got the balls to drill into my car. I also have a Rockford 250a2 amp in the trunk and if I listen to the music loud I notice the lights dim. I doesn't do it very bad so I am not concerned about that. I left all the other speakers in the car alone. They sound fine right now until I have the money to get MB Quarts. The head unit that I have is a Sony ES Black screen radio (I forgot the model number). When the radio is off the display is pitch black. It flips down to reveal the buttons and a small display. The black side is just one big display. Anyways, that is what I have. Good luck on your system. The only part I can see that you might want to find out is how to get all the sound through the back seats. Also, you only need another battery if you plan on running the system when the car is off. The Altenator runs the entire car when the engine is running.

My Bazooka is an RS series 8" sub w/100 w built in amp. The sound is great even with the seats up. The sub has adjustable crossover and gain level right on it, I'm running it about 1/2 way so it just overpowers the normal system. I tried t all the way up just for kicks, the bass was way too much, great for impressing people with the boomin' hip-hop bass, but that's about it, loses that great quality sound tht the factor system has, so 1/2 way on the amp, bass on the head unit just over half and it sounds perfect. See this earlier post for more detail and a pic of the subsubwoofer time

All I can say is, I want to see pics of it with nice 18's heh.

As far as the stereo goes, you've probably checked out all my photos and whatnot. I have 600w going to my two 12's and my component set and I haven't noticed the lights dim once. I have an ES so I leave my seats folded down most of the time so I can't help you with that problem. The only other thing I'd point out is to measure the space at the lowest point in the trunk. If you want the sub box all the way forward, I think there's only 14 or 15 inches to work with in height so you may not be able to do 15's.

But like I said, I'd love to see any photos of any mods you do. =]

Thanks guys!

I'll be getting a capacitor for sure, and most likely a new Optima Yellow top. As for the Altenator, I'd like to hold off on that until I'm sure I need to get it re-strung.

As for fitting 15's in the trunk, it won't be hard...who said they have to go straight up and down Muhahahahahahahaha...
