different year engine swaps?

the best 3.5 L engine i can find in my area is from a 2000 and i have a 03 trep with a 2.7 L replaced the water pump once but its starting to leak again its about the same amount of work to swap the engine as it is to replace the water pump ill be buying the whole car to swap over but what kind of problems will i run into with the difference in years?

im a little confused would i need to get a 02+ engine harness and how much of that stuff would i need to swap out?

In order for it to work, you would need everything listed in that thread, off of an 02+ 3.5 donor engine. You would have to take those parts and install them onto the 2000 engine in order for it to run in your 02+ car.

So, from the 02+ 3.5, you would need to install the following on the 2000 engine:

Engine wiring harness
Upper plenum, w/throttle body & sensors
Alternator
Left Camshaft Sprocket
Temp sensor
EGR port Plug.
Flywheel (can also use one from 02+ 2.7)

You would need to remove and discard the above parts plus these on your 2000 engine:

EGR valve and tubes
Vacuum Reservoir

With these modifications this will make the 2000 engine plug and play into the 2003 car. This is the only feasible way to do it.
