Need exhaust advice
So my passenger side down stream leaks and vibrates on the transmission all the time, I got a leak by the resonator as a result and the mufflers joints are well, un-joined. Time for some repairs! Problem; I am on a tight budget, and would like to get a few horse power gains, or at least a nice sound at the end.
I would love to throw on some 1st Gen manifolds, do an x-pipe and true dual out the back to some Super 40's - but not on my budget...
So here are my thoughts, replicate the 300M Special system at the rear. I'll replace the muffler with a one-in two-out with the offset and replace all the tubing with some nice new mandrel bent tubing to some nice tips. Figured Magnaflow, but may be stuck with whatever local brands I can get.
Here is where I need some advice. I'm going to go get another down stream pipe to replace my badly modified one after a 2.7 swap. I'm contemplating cutting out the converters. My friend has done it to small four bangers naturally aspirated and forced, results were very noticeable. Lots of pep and power. But I've read it's a dramatic opposite with our cars?
Additionally, once I figure out the cats situation, I intend to move the first resonator back further, replace it with a Magnaflow perhaps, but the idea of a x-pipe or even an h-pipe interests me.
Anyone able to throw some feedback my way? I know a good share on exhausts just no expert haha.
