I want to add interior lights that come on when the doors open like the dome lights

I want to add interior lights that come on when the doors open like the dome lights. These lights will be blue LED's in the foot wells of my 2000 Dodge Intrepid. I was hoping I could just jump it through the fuse for the dome lights, but unfortunately it didn't go on and off with the dome lights, it just stayed on. I think I can splice into a wire going to the dome lights, put I'm not sure which one, and where it would be located. I tried finding a thread about this but couldn't find it (I'm new to this site). Help would be greatly appreciated,Thank-you.

pink and yellow wires in the plug that connects at the fuse block right above the fuses. It runs the dome lights.

So I could splice into either the yellow or the pink wire, or would one be better

you need to splice into both... the pink is the 12v and the yellow is the ground signal that fades out... did this myself with white leds..

I made custom brackets (simple bent sheet metal) under the dash on each side and wired as stated above. Sorta like a Chevy, open up the doors and light comes down from the dash into the foot area.

I just bought 2 LED light strips from Walmart with the sticky on the back and stuck it to the rubber above the pedals and onto the HVAC on the passenger side.

I did this years ago. I used some door courtesy lights i had laying around from a junkyard Intrepid. I also added a lighted key ring at the time.
