new struts for a 2000 RT

My front struts are toast and I am having trouble keeping an alignment. Which struts do you recommend? Are the KYB GR2's better than stock? Does it matter where I have them installed? Dealer? How long "should" the originals last? What "should" dealer installed stock struts cost? How about the KYB's?

What else would you recommend I do while they are being replaced? I saw some discussion about the mounts...should they be replaced as well? Stock from the dealer? Who sells aftermarket mounts? Cost?

Thanks for your advice!

A few months ago I replaced front and rear struts with KYB GR2. I also replaced the mounts and boots. I got it all from Tire Rack. In fact, the KYB struts are the only ones I could find for the R/T. Monroe offers rear struts, but not front struts for the R/T.

I really can't comment on the ride difference because at the same time I put H&R springs on. But the ride difference will be a factor of how shot your current struts are.

Question for you is...are you sure it's your struts that are shot?

Here is an interesting post from 300mclub.org that a member posted. Apparently, the 300m performance handling package struts offer a sportier ride than the KYB's. I already got some KYB's but am waiting for my lowering springs for installation.
You may consider lowering springs and new mounts the same time you install the struts.
