Niteshades, Subtle but Substantial!

Finally got around to getting my Niteshades on. Decided to leave the red part of the lenses alone and just black out the turn signals and reverse light portions for a different look. Pretty happy with the results! It's damn near black (used a whole can LOL), but they still light up nice & bright! Next thing on the list, remove the door trim.

Looks nice. I like the idea of just darkening little portions of the tails. It is different, and it looks great!

Thanks qp, edited the pic to a larger scale to show more clarity...

That look pretty cool. Good idea. I may want to try that in the future. What did you do to mask the areas that you didn't want to paint?

Did you use clear coat? It doesn't look all that shiny. I know that when I used Niteshades on my tails they were pretty dull till I clear coated and used rubbing compound on em.

I just used your every day blue 3M masking tape. I love that stuff, it works great on anything. I had some on the outside of my house over winter and everything and it still peeled right off this year!

No clearcoat. Didn't want to use any if I didn't have to, and from what I've read the Niteshades will hold up strong on its own w/o any clear. But I change my mind some day (like after I detail the car next time and she's all shined up) I might just remask and throw some clear on!

Yeah, I'd definately recommend it. I put 3 coats of clear on mine, and they shine almost better than the plain plastic did before I painted them. You can try a fine-grade rubbing compound on the niteshades itself to see if that gives the stuff any more luster, just make sure you wait 48 hours after you've painted them to do so.

Thanks Gman, I may end up doing that, but right now I'm diggin' the flat black textured look for some reason! I can never leave anything alone for long though, so I'll probably end up doing it before long.

Looks good. One of these days I will try to do something to my tail lights. My last light bar was painted to match and looked okay, but then I got to where I didn't really car for it that much...so I opted for the led lighted bar instead. Now I want to go maybe 1-2 shades darker on the tails, sort of a light coating. But there again...one of these days. Looks Good!!!

Thanks S&G, it probably helped in my case having a dark colored car too. It really gave it a whole different look.
