They should have the EXACT SAME part numbers. I have no clue why the Intrepid ones would cost more other than the fact that they probably sell a lot more for the Intrepid than for the 300M. Since the average consumer does not know they are the same, most would just pay for the Intrepid one.

The difference is...there is no such thing as a '98 300M.

The April 98 300M's were called 99's.
The Chrysler Corp made 3 different struts, LUX, Sport, and Performance. The Concordes, Intrepids, and LHS's had the LUX struts. The 300M's had the sport struts, and the PHP (300M performance Package ) had the Performance struts. Later Intrepid R/T's had performance struts.

According to the KYB web site...

1998-2004 Intrepid
Front Left Strut - 235618
Front Right Strut - 235617
Rear Strut - 235619
Front Strut Mount - SM5167
Rear Strut Mount - SM5168
Boot (front & rear) - SB101

1998-2004 300M
Front Left Strut - 235618
Front Right Strut - 235617
Rear Strut - 235619
Front Strut Mount - SM5167
Rear Strut Mount - SM5168
Boot (front & rear) - SB101

Sooooo...there should be no difference. The part numbers should be the same. I would verify the individual part numbers before ordering.

Where are you seeing this package deal?

300Michael,

Are you sure? I just ordered new struts from Jeff at Hendricks Dodge. He told me the Performance struts were standard on the 300M and RT and the sport struts came on the 300M handling package. He said thay are very stiff. I expect them to show up in the next day or two for my RT.

Thanks!

I think the Special's OEM struts were made by Tokico. I might be wrong though.

So the strut package for the 98 intrepid and the 99 300m are performance struts? If so does that mean my ride will be stiff??

Like they said the stock ride changes but since this is a KYB setup and parts are all exactly the same for the 300M and Intrepid then U'll be getting the stiffness of the KYB shocks and U don't have much choice there.

I think all the struts are made by Tokico. The struts on my wife's 2000 ES are Tokico and the struts on 2001 M/S SE are Tokico.

The OEM struts on some models were made by KYB. At least on some of the 300M's. Someone on the 300m board replaced their struts and said the originals were KYB.
