what plugs?

i have searched, and read, but, i still am not sure what spark plugs i should run in the R/T. So throw out what you run, so i can help make a better informed decision.

Thanks in advance
Bruce.

2001 R/T, I use the OEM Champion Platinum RC12PEC5 plugs. Mine are $7.02 Canadian at the dealership (I get a preffered customer discount on parts), regular price just over $10 each!

Was running splitfire plats, changed to champion plats. No change on either one from stock plugs.

Since I am only running each set of plugs for 30K miles I can't tell you how they will behave long term (100K +)

At least their good for 100,000 miles so it hurts a little less.

Avenger, could you give us a little more info on your plug change?

How many miles were on your old plugs when you changed to the Bosch +4's? What brand/type were the original plugs, that is, were they Champion Platinums, Bosch Double Plats, Splitfire triple plats??? Did they still look to be in good condition or were they pretty used up?

How much of a boost in economy do you think you got?

I'm just trying to decide if going to the Bosch +4's are really what boosted your economy, or if it was just that your old plugs were so wore out/carboned up/increased gap that any new plug would have shown a similar improvement. I'm not questioning that you got an increase, I'm just trying to determine what it was due to. The reason I ask is because I pulled the plugs in my car and as near as I can tell they appear to be original and they still look really good. But the car has nearly 170,000 miles on it, so I figure they're due for a change. But they honestly don't look bad at all. The car is getting somewhere between 20-22 mpg, so they seem to be doing the job decently enough. I'm just wondering if I get the +4's if I'll see an increase too.

Sorry for being so long-winded, bad habit of mine...

Well.......my original plugs (Champion's) seemed to get pretty consistant fuel economy since the car was brand new. 12.9L/100km. Since I changed them however.......I'm now getting 10.9L/100km. The car also SEEMS to have better performance and I ran a better 1/4 mile time (could've been the weather that day however?).

Wow, that is a noticeable improvement!!

Hmmm, sounds like it might be worth looking into for that much of a difference.

You didn't do anything else except change the plugs and got this much of an improvement?

Thanks for the information!!

Trust me...the ET change was NOT the plugs. 1 degree in weather is equal to 1 hundreth of ET. 10 degrees cooler than the last time equals 10 hundreths of a second quicker.

I highly doubt that +4s alone would net a 2.0L / 100k gain in fuel economy, 0.2L / 100 km is more like it.
