Brake light with 300M cluster

For those of us with a 300M cluster whose brake light and ABS light are on all the time (or covered), I found a way to work around it so a light comes on with the parking brake and low fluid level. It involves putting your own LED in the cluster. If anyone is interested in how to do this let me know.

My Indiglo Police Cluster does that. I was going to try and devise a false signal generator for the ABS signal so that the brake light would function as intended.
Hadn't resided to putting the tape over the lights yet.

Someone suggested transplanting the indiglo components to my stock cluster so that my stock Cluster CPU would operate the brake light normally. I am afraid I'll screw it up though.

That may be very difficult, as, if you compare the circuit boards, they are quite different in the circuit tracings from the CPU and for the lighting circuit. It has a step up transformer that is mounted to the CB, and there is no room for it on the stock boards.
I also considered swapping CPUs on the boards, but........................

Some people have expressed interest in this so here goes. First of all, get an LED (there are threads on this site that show how to hook up LED’s) and solder a couple of wires onto it with a connector on each wire. These wires should be about 12” long so you can remove the cluster later. Make up two more wires with the mate connectors to the ones above. The wire lengths on these should also be about 12”. One of these wires in going to a 12V Acc. connection, I recommend the data link connector for this one. The other wire is a little trickier. Since the ground is completed by placing the parking brake on or actuating the brake fluid low level, you will have to cut the Gray w/Black stripe wires going into the Junction Block. These are located on connectors C7 and C10 – Wire G9. I took a small piece of wire and used in-line splices to hook them together. I then spliced the second wire in to this loop and connected everything together for the test. After I verified everything worked, I removed the cluster and installed the LED in the Brake light slot. Put everything back together and had my Brake light back. Make sure you have a bright LED, mine is a little dim.

You should seriously consider making a How-To with pictures. This could help a whole bunch of people.

I am currently between digital cameras, I wanted to wait, but I had to go under the dash for another reason and didn't want to put it off. I am sorry, I know alot of people want to fix this problem. When I get a new camera I'll try and get some pictures.
