Some people have expressed interest in this so here goes. First of all, get an LED (there are threads on this site that show how to hook up LED’s) and solder a couple of wires onto it with a connector on each wire. These wires should be about 12” long so you can remove the cluster later. Make up two more wires with the mate connectors to the ones above. The wire lengths on these should also be about 12”. One of these wires in going to a 12V Acc. connection, I recommend the data link connector for this one. The other wire is a little trickier. Since the ground is completed by placing the parking brake on or actuating the brake fluid low level, you will have to cut the Gray w/Black stripe wires going into the Junction Block. These are located on connectors C7 and C10 – Wire G9. I took a small piece of wire and used in-line splices to hook them together. I then spliced the second wire in to this loop and connected everything together for the test. After I verified everything worked, I removed the cluster and installed the LED in the Brake light slot. Put everything back together and had my Brake light back. Make sure you have a bright LED, mine is a little dim.
