Ceramic Coated Exhaust Manifolds...

I bought a Y pipe for an import car I own. I wanted a stainless steel pipe but the manufacturer sent me mild steel. Rather than ship it back and fight it out w/ them, I had the Y pipe (and exh. manifolds) ceramic coated to protect them from rust. The ceramic coating guys claim about a 2% power increase but I didn't have a before and after comparison so I don't know. Just wondering if anyone has tried this on their Intrepid.

I know someone who had it done on the exhaust system of their MR2. I don't know about any power gains, but it looks damn nice and stands up to the heat with no problem...

Any high-compression engine with a good, open exhaust behind it should benefit from a ceramic coating. Without the modified exhaust you're just fooling yourself and any engine below a 9.5:1 CR probably won't see any gains to speak of. Those ceramic guys are used to working with Muscle Cars. I'm planning on a ceramic coat for my next set of GTX headers. If I have to (cost) I'll just wrap them in tape - not pretty but functional ...
