Question Two mufflers?

I'm a newbie at this site and Mopar tech. It looks like there are two mufflers after the cat on my 01 2.7. Has anyone taken one off for increased performance? Also, is Kenne Bell the only company out there that tunes Interpid pcms?

Actually, after each cat (there's one on each side of the engine) there is a collector/resonator, then a muffler, then a resonator. And yes, Kenne Bell is the only company that does any real computer mods for LHs...

actually there are two resonators and a muffler

from the cats back you will see them Y into a single resonator then pipe back to the sideways sitting muffler and finally another resonator which has the tailpipe itself on it

taking one off will not help performance since they are not very restrictive

Sad

Thanks guys. I guess I would get a replacement performance muffler and take a trip to home depot for a homemade intake solution. $350 seems a bit steep for a marginal increase in hp and mpg.

resonators

Cool, nice "flow" chart. I only have the 2.7 in mine. I wonder how it would sound with your setup?

I think that's the one that takes most of the "drone" out of the exhaust ...

I post a chart showing my setup, but forgot to include the details. DOH!

Muffler --> Flo~Pro V-Force "camaro style"

Tips --> dual stainless steel dual rolled flange

pics... http://www.intrepidrt.com

It sounds nice. I've gotten many compliments. I think it even sounds better than the Flowmaster Original 40 series I use to have on there.

So if removed will it aid in making the exhaust "annoying" loud or "deeper" loud?

Probably more annoying. Better off to remove the last resonator or change mufflers ...

Ummm... my stock muffler was replaced in the beginning of the year to a flowmaster series 50 delta flow, and my tail pipe is a import "can". (refer to my gallery or sig link)
