Rotor Size Question with Motorsports SE

My 2001 Motorsports Edition SE came equipped with 17" rims which are the same as R/T rims but in a gloss black color. Anyhow, my question is if my car came with 17" rims but is an SE model, would I have R/T size rotors?? I'm guessing not. Chrysler probably just throw the rims on without any consideration to the brake size. It probably doesn't matter because the engine is smaller and doesn't have the weight of a 3.5L engine thus requiring less stopping power up front. Does anyone know for certain though? I have to install new rotors and pads for the 3rd time now because my rotors keep warping. There has to be a design flaw here because this is just getting ridiculous.

just measure them, the smaller rotors are 282MM (a hair over 11") while the larger are 297MM or roughly 11.7"

I had the same problem with rotors untill I put cross drilled and slotted rotors on. When I called Power Stop to order them they just want to know what size rim was on the car not the desigination (SE, ES, R/T).

If it came from the factory with 17" rims (anything larger than 15"), it has the larger rotors on it. You can go with R/T rotors without a problem.

My recomendation for front brakes is Frozen Rotors (www.frozenrotors.com) and Performance Friction Z-Rated pads. You should not have to do anything with your rear rotors - they see little heat and wear. Any problems are in the front. Therefore take the money you would have spent on all four, and put into the fronts. The Frozen Rotors are about $110 each - worth it. With this combination, I have the smoothest brakes this car has ever had for the longest time since I've owned it.

In 2000 chrysler dropped the 11.1 inch brake rotors.

Well I've already gone ahead and ordered rotors and pads online from Tirerack.com before reading any responses in this forum. I selected rotors for a Dodge Intrepid SE so I'll probably get the smaller ones. I'll have to measure the original rotors that I have stashed away that have long since warped many miles ago. I didn't ordered any cross-drilled rotors this time around, but I did order the OEM stock replacement rotors made by Brembo with Hawk ceramic pads. Hopefully the Brembos will be more tolerant to warpage as Brembo is a quality brand.
