Custom Gauge Overlay

Would it be possible to mount a custom gauge overlay that reads up to 150MPh? Will the needle even go that far considering the stock gauge reads at 120?

Thanks!!

Get a police cluster it reads up to 150mph and glows like the 300m clusters....I dont know if the needle will go up to 150 on mine....I have only got up to 110 once going to Vegas

Otherwise no....the needle wont go any higher on a 120 cluster.

The needle will go past the 120 mark - trust me!

But jimtesla is right - the Police units go to 150 as do the 300M Special units ...

The needle on mine goes past 200 (Mine's in km/h), and 200km/h is about 125 mph.

.........and how do we know this, HUH??? :p

The needle on the 120MPH speedo DOES bury quite nicely. I have a special cluster now though, I haven't buried this one yet

Police treps top out at 138, it's been tested by one of the states to decide which would be the best police car.

From the Michigan State Police tests? I saved a copy of the 2004 tests - top speed was 135 MPH. That's pretty much in-line with the factory programming, which is set at 136 MPH. The 3.27 rear-end Crown Vic came in second at 128 MPH. Still can't outrun the radio ...

Yea, I wasn't fully sure but I remembered it was something like 135 or 138.

I have a Canada made 300M Special cluster. Can the face be altered, or an overlay appiled so that the I can change the look of it. (altough the 240 kmh looks pretty cool) I was planning a chip swap to see if I could change it to MPH instead.

Dude, those are HARD to come by.......I'm sure you could find a US one and sell the Canadian one to a member here.

No, I think an opaque overlay would block the indiglo backlighting to the Kph/Mph numbers. If you did some sort of transparent overlay you would still see the old numbers through the overlay.

If you were able to remove the stock numbers somehow without damaging the actual face, then an overlay could be used. A simple overlay made by inkjet transparency would do......hmmmmmmmm
