Kenne Bell Optimizer II

Thinkin' about gettin' one. Is it worth it in terms of HP, Torque, and fuel economy? Also, would the gains be that noticeable regarding the mods I already have? (K&N FIPK II, dual custom exhaust)?

that is a very good question. I've decided Yes. I'm getting ready to install a JoeKD intake. I plan on getting the KB mod done over the holidays while I have some free time. I haven't decided to change my exhaust yet.

I've read enough posts to believe that the KB mod is good for about 260hp in the R/Ts. With a KB, CAI and custom exhaust, I'd bet you would truly have 275 hp, but that's only my opinion.

One thing though. If you do decide on getting the KB, make sure you get a custom 160* thermostat. The KB programming will make your fans blow constantly with the stock thermostat. You'll be replacing the fans pretty quick.

Exhaust set-up is straight duals off the cats with 1 resonator and 1 muffler per side. My sig thread shows it pretty well.

01R/T_SC - Thanks for the thermostat tip. I'll definitely keep that in mind. Any idea where to get one?

The Kb is definitely worth it. And yes, you will need a 160* t-stat unless you have them bypass the temp mapping.
To answer JVH1982's question----yes you WILL notice it. How would you like torque steer and scratching into second gear under WOT?

Search the Buy/Sell/Trade, there's a recent thread on 160* thermostats. One of our members has them custom made. They're Chevy thermostats that are machined to fit the Treps. I think you still need to buy a stock thermostat to have a gasket that fits correctly. I have 2 on order, but haven't received them yet.

Yeah, its not cheap is it. But, its as much about time as money for me. Pull out the PCM, ship the PCM, have KB program the PCM, ship PCM back, install PCM. That's at least 3-4 days down time, even if KB is cracker jack and does it with 24 hr turn time. That's why I'm waiting until the holidays when I have more free time.

But I'm getting excited though. I'm really curious how the R/T will run with the new programming.

Yeah, unfortunately, I'll be shorter on both time and money come the holidays, unless my bands start playing out more...
