Lightbulb Any update on custom 4.11 "Prowler Pro Immitation" gears?

I've been seriously looking into doing the 3.89 SE Final Drive Gear Swap in my 3.2L 2001 Intrepid ES [which has the typical 3.66 Final Drive Gears, for those not familiar with this swap].

However, in my couple of hours spent with the "Search" button as my best friend [ :P ], I came across an interesting post/thread. rman300m was stating how he was _hoping_ to attempt to make some custom gears, basically the same as the Prowler Pro's 4.11 gears. To avoid any repetitious details, let me sum it up by saying "He ran into some complications, but seemed hopeful in attempting something." [Read the thread and you'll understand].

The thread can be found at:
https://www.dodgeintrepid.net/forums/...ad.php?t=21331
Most notably read post #65, where he posts an e-mail that Tony from Prowler sent him.

Being involved in the motorsports/speed shop industry, I have an idea what's involved in making something like that - a LOT. So, I'm definitely not EXPECTING anything to have come of this [no offense at all to the person attempting it]. Nonetheless, I'd be stupid to not at least look into it before buying some 3.89 gears.

While I'm at it, is there any OTHER developments I've overlooked in regards to AFFORDABLE 4.11 gears? There is a good chance that I'll be selling my intrepid in a couple of months, so I don't want to sink very much more into it right now. I could afford some 3.89 gears, although would MUCH prefer the 4.11 gears, and would be willing to pay some more for them. FYI My Intrepid is already lightly modded, so I'm making a bit more HP then stock, but I think what's killing it's 1/8 and 1/4 times are the high gear ratios, most notably how poorly it comes out of the hole. I'm hoping this will "fill in the gap", rounding out my mods.

Also, assuming there's no new info and I go ahead with the 3.89 gears, is there anything significant I should note or be aware of, i.e. during the install? [I have read a few of the install guides here on the forums, so I have a pretty good idea what's involved].

Thanks in advance for any notes and/or help!

Just to let you know, the Prowler Pros have an equivlent ratio of 4.96, not 4.11. It's very aggressive, 27% higher than 3.89 gears. It's impratical for daily use, I'd just go with the 3.89 gearing.

I have the Prowler Pro Gear for 4 year now and I make 76000 km with that gear. I really like this gear for each day I drive it.

The 4.11 gear was available by a other compagny. It is not Prowler Pro that are selling this gear. All the member that try this gear have broke the chain. Took the 3.89 gear or the 4.96 gear only.

From the Prowler Pro website:
(Remember that the stock Prowler gear is the 3.89)

Cruisability:
RPM @ 80mph in 4th gear stock = 2400
RPM @ 80mph in 4th gear Prowler Pro = 3100

Shift Points:
stock 1st gear to 2nd = 48 mph
Prowler Pro 1st gear to 2nd = 37 mph

stock 2nd to 3rd = 89 mph
Prowler Pro 2nd gear to 3rd = 71 mph

I think I will change out to the 3.89's come differential service time. Can't afford any of the shorter gears

Exclamation

okay with my 96 Intrepid with 3.5L i am wanting to go to a lower gear ratio for much quicker launch off the line..

What is the lowest gear ratio i can go with my transmission and the strongest set/manufacture??

If i can get 4.9x Ratio i'm sure that would really kick some ass.

You can use any gear. I hown the Prowler pro gear for 4 years. I have done more than 100 000 km and no trouble. If you whant my opinion you can only buy 2 gears the 3.89 ( 2.7 and 300m special) or the 4.94 coming from prowler pro. In fact it will be your budget that will limit you. The Prowler pro gear is made by Borng Warner the same compagny that make the chrysler gear. ( 3.89 and 3.66)

The Prowler pro gear is amazing. You need the Autostick if you whant to use it at is best. The only bad part is that your fuel economy will decrease alot. Before I install the Prowler pro gear I have fuel consumption at 14Liter/100 km now I have 17 liters/100 km. Yoiu need to understand that the engine will rev alot more. For example at 120 km/h ( 75 m/ph) the engine will rev 2100 rpm with the 3.66 gear. When you install the 4.94 gear the rpm at 75 m/ph is 3200 rpm.

I've noticed that the Pacifica uses both 3.89 gears in some models and 4.28 gears in others. I know they use the 42RE which is based on the 42LE.

I wonder if the transfer gears are compatible with the 42LE?

That would be interesting to find out...
I thought the RE was a transverse mount tranny...

I was wrong. It is the Jeep Liberty that has a 42RLE which is based on the 42LE.

I still wonder about gear compatability.

So my limited options are

A: 3.66
B: 3.89
C: 4.11
D: 4.94

Money isnt an option here just curious as to which is avalible and yea i know gas consumption will be greater and i know the engine will rev- higher than it does now.. i've been around the drag racing scene all my life.. love to launch hard, and fast.. just now need to figure out which route to go with the shift kit option.. need some hard kick..
