Need Rubber

Getting some 17 X 7 wheels and need to know what size tire I should get for these wheels. Should I get the 245/50/17, 225/55/17 or can I run a 235/45/17?

Do not know enough about this stuff that is why I am coming to the experts. Last two sets of wheels I got already had the rubber with them.

I have 225/55/17 on my rims which are as close to the OEM size as possible to keep the speedo accurate

245/45/17 SHOULD be OK (and it IS what I'd choose). Either that or you can go 235/50/17 or 225/55/17.

Remeber Keith - the lower the sidewall 55 -> 45 -> 35 the stiffer the ride So go with the largest that you can an maintain a speedo accuracy you can live with. Or get one of those modules that will adjust the speedo ratio

245/45-17's!!! Yeah, your speedo will be off a tad, but the handling difference over the stock size is worth it! BTW...my speedo if off about 3mph at 70....so in other words, when my speedo says I'm going 70, am actually going about 67-ish...

EDIT: Wait! Don't you already have 17's on that ride??!! What size tire are you running now?

Keith,

If you need some temp tires while you decide what to get I have four Goodyear Eagle LS with about 5000 - 10000 miles left on them that you can have for FREE. You would just need to pick them up in the DC area.

They are 225/55/17

I heard you were in Richmond now is that right?

DScruggs:
No you are thinking about Ron (Dmondeac) I do believe. But for some free tires I would be willing to make a trip to DC on the weekend. I will not be able to come up for another two weeks however. I would ask you to consider shipping and pay you for your trouble but being that I am having a nightmare trying to get some wheels & tires shipped I do not wish to put that burden on anyone.

In2Deep:
I was running the 17" razorstars but recently sold those w/the tires to another member as I need to have some chrome on the ride.

So what did you pick up? Pics? I just got the 17" chrome Razorstars but am waiting till spring now to put them on. The tires I am looking to buy for them are the Hankook Ventus HRII H405 P225/55R17. Good price and high ratings.

Let me take a couple of really good pictures of them.

They would not be good for very long but could hold you for a while.
