The Engine Swap - 99 trep 2.7

Looks like its time to replace the engine. I've been reading and reading but I'm not sure of my next move. It seems that changing the motor from the 2.7 over to the 3.5 is the most economical. I'm a little confused about which 3.5 I can use in my 99. I've read about LHS and Concord 3.5's and even older treps. Can you shine some light on this situation. Thanx!!!

How many miles on the car? It might be cheaper to replace the engine, but it's a '99 and there are some great alternatives, i.e. later models of Intrepids, Concordes, 300Ms and LHS's which might make more sense in the long run.

Other than that, I think all LH 2nd gen 3.5's can be used (H.O. or not), but there are some differences between the years that someone else can explain to you.

I had the same happen to me. The 2.7 in my '99 took a nose-dive and I traded it for the LHS you see in my sig. $1500 for the Trep and $5000 cash = nice LHS.

Good luck!

My trep has about 150k on it. I got about $1500 left to pay on it. I'm thinking a trade-in might not make sense right now. I'm gonna start calling the yards monday but I don't want to ask for something that wont work - hell, they'll sell me what I ask for.

Damn, I really like this car. Nothing else out there really moves me, well, maybe those chargers or 300c's but they're out my budget right now. This sucks big time!
