Smile Does anyone know where is the OD "mileage" memory stored in an 2-Gen LH?

I swore my car had 175,000 miles on the odometer, and now for some reason she reads 153,000.after the swap????????

Anyone know why??, I kept my same PCM< TCM< ECU< AND BCM, (only engine was swapped),, and Im wondering whats up with this, anyone run into this before?

Hmm. That's a good one. I'm stuck between BCM and PCM. I know its not stored as part of the dash display because others have replaced their gauges and not had issues. Try a search on replacing the gauges and stuff. Somewhere in one of those threads has got to be some input into where the odometer info is stored.

Come to think of it, Veeborg might be right with the BCM. I say that because the OTIS/EVIC gets its data from a wire plugged into the BCM, which includes trip and mileage. Unless the BCM communicates with the PCM?

Damn, this is like a conundrum. Of course the BCM and PCM must communicate. The PCM and TCM get inputs from the input and output sensors on the tranny for various reasons, including calculating speed and distance. And those in turn are shown on the dash and OTIS/EVIC. So I guess I'm back to 50/50 between if its either the PCM or BCM.

I think it is stored on both PCM and BCM, so they can have a reference in case one is exchanged. I changed my PCM and my mileage didn't change, so it's either BCM only or the newer installed BCM/PCM will "learn" from the already existing BCM/PCM in the car .

Terminator is correct -
The mileage is stored in both the BCM and ECM.
The cluster readout is received from the BCM, and any changes to the BCM will be reflected on the cluster readout.

The mileage in the PCM/ECM is obtainable only with the DRBIII scan tool, and is primarily there for the dealer to access to double check on warranty claims to be sure that the BCM hasn't been changed.

As far as your mileage differential is concerned - weird, since the stock BCM will retain memory for ages. I have one in my car that sat for over 2 years, and it still showed the original 17,000 Kms when I installed it.

goal - have one of my parts on every DI car:biggrinfl
Honoured to be January 2007 COTM.THANK YOU ALL.
