Smile True Dual Exhaust....Great Mod!!!

Ok...
Today, I had the exhaust system installed.
Took 5 hours, and cost $426.

They were able to use all of my parts, except the H-pipe I bought.
Tri-State Muffler here in Cincinnati did the work, and the owner (Rob Kropfeld) said that the Summit H-Pipe was "junk" and he just made one.

I wasn't allowed in the shop for insurance reasons. They also wouldn't let me take pictures of the install (for insurance reasons) Anyhoo, I will take some pictures tomorrow of what I can (after I get the car washed)

Now, let me tell you this much. I take back everything I may have ever said about this mod not doing much for the car!!! I now understand how much of a restriction the transverse muffler setup can be. Granted, I am flowing much more exhaust than before (dual 2.25" pipes vs. single 3" pipe). But I tell you, that is not the only difference. It is quiet...it has a nice low grunt. The tips have resonators in them, and that helps. Also, have the mufflers directly attached to the tips make it sound just awesome. There is enough room to route the pipes side by side going around the gas tank. It is tucked up nice, and neat, out of sight. Also, I had them flange the assembly for future possible projects, and for possible removal at the track. I just told Lisa this, and she looked at me like I was on crack. That is how I know I am on track!!

The Summit Racing Turbo Mufflers, are great. I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to do this. For the price ($17.95 each) you can't go wrong. And they flow really well!! My tips are the Corsa tips...and by the pics I have posted here, they look sweet on the car.

Overall, the looks, and performance of this exhaust system is well worth it. It should last me a few years, prolly longer than I intend on owning the car. I am guessing with how well the exhaust is flowing, I feel confident in saying that the car picked up .02 of a second. We will see in a few weeks. By then, the ported LIM, and the new TB should be on the car. Let's hope!!

IMHO, the Hujo design is dead....long live true dual exhaust!!!

Here is the pricelist:
Exhaust Tips - $35.00
Mufflers - $17.99 each (2 mufflers)
H-Pipe - $31.99 (not used)
Header Wrap w/ 8 Stainless Steel Zip Ties - $35.00
8 additional Stainless Steel Ties - $20.00
Factory converters w/downpipes - $50.00
Cost of fabrication - $426
Total: $634

Exhaust System Component Pics

BTW, here's a piece of useless trivia....Jim Kropfeld the founder of the business was the same Jim Kropfeld that used to pilot Miss Budweiser..the racing boat that used to run in the 80's and 90's. IIRC, he died of cancer in the early to mid 90's.

Any thoughts??

Oh yes, The Greatest Show on Earth will be there again this year.
Heh, wait..I'm not the Circus..
But anyhoo, I will be there.
If you want to try it at the hotel, or on the show grounds, we can give it a go!!
Although, Capt. Morgan and I will be doing his install the weekend of April 29th (tentatively) at Norwalk, OH. Going to Intense Drag Days at Norwalk Raceway Park that weekend. It is on 4/29 (tentatively) and we will be in the hotel parking lot Saturday doing the installation. If you can make it, try to be there then.

I will post more information as it comes available.
