Air intake systems

So is K&N the best way to go when it comes to intake system or are there others to consider? K&N is going to set me back 275 clams....I'm sure its worth it but can I get it cheaper? Looking on ebay, there are other brands but being a car audio expert, I know all too well about getting what you pay for. Some of the other brands claim hp gain up to 26 while K&N claims about 9. Would appreciate some input here.................thanks!

You should be able to find the K & N closer to $200 with the shipping included, just keep watching. Those generic $20 dollar short ones on Ebay are not worth your hard earned cash. There is also a guy on this site that makes a setup ...and some here have them on their cars.

I have the K&N setup and I love it. There are some on the site that also have the j-intake created by JoeKD - http://www.j-intakes.com/

Can not go wrong with either one but then again those would be the only ones I would buy. Other than that the only other suggestion I would have is to make your own.

Thanks for the info and link. Did you notice the difference when you installed the K&N?

Actually, it is true.
I decided that I wanted to do it right with the Special, and wanted to do it right the first time with this car. So, I ordered it Friday afternoon.

Here's a $75 setup. K&N cone filter and a Spectre aluminum intake that's supposed to fit a Civic. Both should be available through any of your major auto stores. Auto Zone carries the intake, ordered my K&N through Summit.

That is the best price I've seen on these. I've been watching for a while now.

A homemade one.
I used ABS tubing to fabricate one of my own.

I got the K&N kit yesterday, and installed it yesterday evening.
Took me 2 hours in the cold, and flurries to get it in.
It looks good, I can't complain.
Some of the install instructions sucked out loud....
But other than that, it wasn't bad.

Hell yeah....that is why I bought it from there.
Even with the 2 day shipping it was only $193!!
I have been looking at the prices for 4 years!!!

Can't beat that.
