How to illuminate the headlight switch on the 04

Ok,
After installing the gauges in my 04' Special, I decided that I wanted to make my headlight switch illuminated. I tried installing the bulbs from my 99 headlight switch, and running a wire from the illumination wire I ran from the stereo (orange wire) to my gauges. This is on the dimmer switch. It isn't working. I thought if I ran a wire to pin 9 on the headlight harness from the dimmer source, I would get the switch to work.

Can anyone help me with this?

SORRY ABOUT THAT - I cleaned out my mail box, and accidently deleted your PM.

Anyway, here is the info:

Looking at the back of the switch, there is a notch in the top right.
Third pin over is the ground, so if there is no (but should be) black wire already in it, you need to add one and splce into the black wire in the harness.
on the bottom row of pins, , the 2nd from the left is the lighting pin. (on the plug, it is the 3rd opening from the left.)
Add your wire to that pin, and spice to any orange panel lighting wire.

If the switch you have is from a 2003 or 2004, the problem may be that the circuit board is not wired to the switch pins.
You'd need to pull the switch apart to see if it is. (cost cutting)

goal - have one of my parts on every DI car:biggrinfl
Honoured to be January 2007 COTM.THANK YOU ALL.

Yeah...when I pulled the 04 switch out of the dash, the leads to the light panel were not there. I installed the switch from the 99...and BINGO it lite up nicely!!

Just glad my wiring worked!!

Not illuminating switches is one of the WORST cost cutting things I can think of.... just make floor mats optional or something!

DCX is pissing me off with crap like this!
