Usa (You-Suh)

I've wanted an Intrepid for years ever since I test drove one with my wife. Good thing she thought it was too big as the one we looked at was just an SE with a 2.7 and I knew no better at that time. Ironically it was only a mere 3 inches longer than her Camaro.

I, on the other hand, fell in love with Intrepids as they are sophisticatedly sporty and are as spacious as a condominium. I've often described the trunk as roomy enough to fit a dead family of 8. With financial delays and a wife who is no longer with me I've finally gotten around to having my very own Intrepid. With some patience and determination to find one to suit me I stole one off EBay for a paltry $2250. Sure it's got some dings, scratches, and almost 100k on the odometer, but the trep is loaded with just about every option.

I also ordered 3 additional things right away for it: Owner's manual, Spare remote key, and a spoiler. Looking at the custom spoiler I'm not sure if I made the right choice - perhaps I should have order the real spoiler. Oh well, it's done and I guess it'll look different than most Intrepids with spoilers.

The only thing that seems to be wrong with it is the digital climate control dispay has only worked one time. It came on when I pushed the defrost button and never came on again once I turned off the vehicle. Perhaps it's a lose connection or something. If not maybe they are fairly simple to replace. Anybody have this problem or have any suggestions?

I also noticed from reading the forums there are several active treppers here from IL. Wanna give a shout-out to them and that I'm thankful my new baby didn't get hurt by that tornado near here earlier this week.

The climate control is very easy to pull to check connections or replace. Just put your shifter in drive then pull up on the shifter surround, then pull off the radio bezel and finally remove the climate control face with just phillips head screws

Does your fan come on high everytime you start the car? If so it's the plug not making a connection. There is only one plug on the rear of the unit, if that is not the case then you better start shopping for a new one

If you need a new module and can't find one, let me know. I just bought one at the wreckers today, but think it's going to be a PITA to convert so probably won't bother.

It seems to be working 100%. I usually have it on auto. On starting it waits til the engine warms up and begins to blow slowly at first and gradually increases as the car warms then decreases when temperature is reached. If the temperature decreases (open window/door) it will again increase fan speed and heat to keep temperature. Seems to work manually just fine as well. I'm assuming once you push a button (def, floor, vent, etc) it puts it in manual mode.

So from the sounds of it I'll need to replace the unit. Although it's not THAT important to me as it really doesn't display critical information I guess I'll just have some patience and see if I can find a good deal on ebay or in a junkyard.

Nice, and I see you have the traction control. I don't have that type of A/C control but it sounds like either a loose wire or a burn out. You could get in there and jiggle it and then if it still wont work I'm sure you can find one salvage. If that doesn't do it it could be some problem in the circuit that connects it to the dimmer. thats my guess anyway.

Hey I forgot to ask do you know if the timing and the waterpump have been replaced? Most every trep gets this done at 100k.

Gotta love autostick

It was advertised as new timing belt and water pump so hopefully that holds true and yes, autostick is definitely slick.
