New Trep in the family.

Went to an auto auction today in new hampshire and the first lot was a 1999 Dodge intrepid ES. Color is Sage green, bought it for 800 bucks. Its got some problems. One of the bearings is making a grinding sound in the front end, sounds like your in a plane lol. The ball joints sound like they need work, The Driver door window wont go up or down, Wipers will not work, pretty sure its just the motor tho. The E-Brake dont work, 166k miles on it. The engine sounds in great shape, all brand new Michelin tires on it. Nice Rims.

The Keys that came with the car are not Chrysler keys which worries me, i dont know how im gonna get the chrysler one or the keyless entry which is going to really be a paint in the ass. Someone did some forging lol. This is going to be my other project car now until i get her on the road. Me and my Front suspension luck.. This car is great tho it runs nice, and i absolutely love the autostick. The tires are brand new, they cost 110 dollars each. Their great. More pics when car is done.

That's definantly a good thing.

Didn't ES's have Sentry Key? That's another thing to worry about with non Chrysler keys.

That is a really good deal. Not too crazy on the color, but a running Trep WITHOUT a 2.7 for $800 is a fantastic deal no matter how you look at it. It looks like after some TLC, that should be a very nice car!

99 should have been before the senry key was added to chrysler. As for the keyless, you can get the fob on ebay take your title and vin number into a dealership they should have no problem encoding the fob or ordering one for you. They do it all the time. I am ordering a new one for my trep as well.

Good luck with the project!

Are you sure it is a 1999? I'm thinking 2000 based on the shifter. My 1999 ES (late model year) has the "fish scale" shifter. I think they changed to the leather boot for 2000. The stereo also looks like the newer style compared to my '99.

I'm sure you're right about the front bearing hub - been there, done that!

He drove the car so by looking at the key he should be able to tell if its sentry or not.

Love the color reminds me of my old 1gen.Congrats on the car!

Where in Ma are you?

That is a really good point whether or not its a 99 or a 2000. I have to check that out tommorow, im going to be visiting my local yard alot in the next month. To answer your question by the way 4.0 Saugus Mass. If you ever heard of the Northeast interstate auto auction thats where the car came from, and it was a donated car from a mazda dealership. thanks for the comments guys.

When this motor does finally go i am definelty taking out a 3.5 HO to put into this trep no doubt. Thats if they have any available at the yard. That will be hopefully in the spring.

The front bumper's been repainted/replaced. '99 Intrepids had blacked out pockets around the fog lights.

Maybe so, but what if it's a 2000 as I suggested earlier? You can see the black around mine in my photo, but mine's a '99.
