I also bought 2 of those subs. I figured I could either get one for $100 or two for $140. So I opted to get two.
I like the sub. But my current set-up kinda sucks. Let me explain. When I first had this installed, I had a Sony XM amp running the sub. The Sony amp was bridged to give 200 watts RMS. The truth is that set-up thumped pretty damn hard! It was better than I thought it would be. Towards the end of last year my bass just stopped. I thought it was the amp since it was a few years old. So I used that as an excuse to get a better and more powerful amp. Since at that time my mom was working part time at Best Buy, I could get really good deals on amps (around half off!). So I bought the amp I currently have (RF Punch X250.2). The RF amp is bridged to give 250 watts RMS. I figured with a better and slightly more powerful amp, it should thump better (at least as good as) than the Sony amp. It turns out that the Sony amp was fine and what had happened was I blew the LOC. Either the LOC isn't set up correctly (the gains) or the LOC just sucks because my bass is well below what it was with that Sony amp. I would just hook up the Sony amp again, but the Sony amp used spade connectors to connect the power wire and such, while the RF amp is a direct connect. I really don't feel like putting on new spade connectors. Besides, I really can't sacrafice any more length on the power wire and I really don't feel like running all new power wire. I also don't feel like ripping apart the dash to get to the LOC to mess with the gains. So I will just live with what I have. But the JBL GTO subs are pretty sweet!
