My New Computer

Well, just got home from Best Buy about 2 hours ago and I did walk in the door with a 963.00 computer/LCD screen/3 in 1 printer. Yes its a Dell. The guy at best buy didnt seem to give a rats butt about us so we sat and looked. We finally decided this one. Yeah I know I should of got somthing else lol I love it though as I would of loved any computer. I saw the Sony computer were there is no tower because its all in the screen. My brothers laptop is a Sony Vaio and is pretty tight. However, the Sony Vaio desktop was almost 2 grand lol.

Heres some info on the computer -
Dell Inspiron 530.
19" LCD Monitor
Windows Vista Home Premium
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33GHZ
3.00 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8300 GS

Off of that info can you guys tell me what you think?
Please remember I already got it and have no plans on returning it.

3.0 gigs of ram means its not running in dual channel, which kinda sucks. And the reason they didnt give you 4gb is because you're probably using the 32 bit version of vista which caps out at 3.25gb of recognized memory.

I've never bought a prebuilt computer, but I guess if you dont have the time/expertise/patience to build your own, that's a bit out of the question. It's unfortunate, because you could've gotten a much, much better computer for $1k if you had built your own. And it wouldnt be using dirt cheap/low quality parts. But again, gotta do what you gotta do. If you're happy with it, that's all that matters.

Enjoy :P

Pretty decent PC.........the graphics card leaves a lot to be desired (I'd say buying that card brand new from the store would be about $50 tops).

Good going for the Core 2 Duo, way better than AMD's offerings.

3GB of RAM is pretty standard on desktops. If you don't know what you're doing, then going with a 32 bit O/S is the way to go........64 bit is a hassle. My colour laser printer doesn't work, neither does AutoCAD :(

Most parts you'd have to replace in a couple years if anything dies (most likely either power supply or hard drive, the 2 most broken parts of a computer) are far cheaper than the extended warranty would cost anyway, and are really easy to diagnose yourself anyway. (if the computer doesnt power up, your power supply died. if the hard drive sounds like a 10 liter diesel engine, it's already dead.)
