I need some help please. I have a HP ZV5316US notebook just under 3 yrs old. it kept crashing on me and so I took it to geeksquad at best buys to be tested. They told me that the HD needs replacing. I called HP last week and they said that the 60 & 80 Hd are on back order and so they said they could only sell me a new 40 HD at present unless I wanted to wait. When I received the 40 HD yesterday it had been used and so I sent it back. The HD I am replacing is a Toshiba MK6026GAX. Is there anywhere else I can buy one of these from or can I put in a different type from the Toshiba. Any suggestions please.
Btw - Geeksquad were pretty slow and even left their diagnostic disk in my machine.
I replaced the 80GB 4200RPM HDD that came on my Compaq Presario laptop with a 100GB 7200RPM Hitachi HDD. No more laptop speed issues after that ;) Seriously.......just go out and buy any 2.5" drive you want. I preferred a 7200RPM drive that puts most desktop 7200RPM drives to shame. It eats the battery a bit quicker however.
Also, keep the receipt. I wouldn't trust a geeksquad diagnosis any more than I'd trust a gamespot review.
I agree with you on Geek Squad, but is there something wrong with Gamespot reviews? I trust IGN more, but sometimes I read Gamespot. I'd say a better analogy is comparing Geek Squad to CNET Car reviews.........they think the Ford Focus is a great car just because of the Microsoft Sync. HAHAHAHA!!!
