It's tough to be a geek....

Just got a cellular internet card for my work laptop. I'll decide in like a week if I want to keep this or not, so far I am not craxy about it.

The speeds aren't as great as they claim and the PC card adapter is a very annoying setup but the fact that I can access all my work stuff (and normal internet) from anywhere I can get a cell signal is very cool.

I couldn't resist and sent an instant message to a co-worker while I was sitting at a traffic light today

I got what I think is something similar a couple weeks ago, but since I spend most of my time in the country where there is no cell signal.....it sucks! Mine just looks like a memory stick that plugs into the USB port.

I haven't found any dead spots in my area yet, I have found out that I can pretty much max out the pipe though by running VPN with multiple Citrix sessions, dual email clients and remote internet assist sessions all open at the same time, worst part is that is my usual workday so I may just end up ditching this and staying with my normal broadband

Hang on to it Joe
we have one at my work
and when I go off to set up sound stuff and presentation stuff I plug our verizon card into a work lap top.
So, if I need to ask my boss a question I just shoot him a IM or email..
a lot better to use a phone though, but sometimes VERY handy

Well I also have a work issued cellphone so I dont see communication being a problem

The speed thing is really going to be the deciding factor, my email timed out several times today, not good

I can expense off one ISP fee every month so if I keep this tht means I need to start paying my home broadband bill every month

I have 30 days to decide, we'll see what happens
