In need of Memory card help!!!

Ok, I have a 1 GB memory stick Pro duo card in my sony 8mp digital camera. I need to upgrade the car to a 2 or 4GB card b/c were going on a 7 day cruise next week on the 21st.
the card i have now says that it's a sony high speed pro duo card and i don't know how fast "High speed" is!!!

So Can i get a 4 GB Gaming Edition Memory Stick PRO Duo Card with a 40x speed rating? Or should it be faster?

According to Wikipedia, all memory sticks bigger than 1GB support the High Speed transfer rate. So the Lexar one should be at least as fast as the one you have now. 40X seems to be about 20MB/s.

I find the speed only comes into play when taking action shots, and post production work. At sporting events I shoot in continues mode alot. With slow memory you will have to wait, for a vacation you should be fine. Your card has a speed rating of 67x. A few years back that 40x was blazing fast...

1x means the card can perform data transfer at 150 KiloBytes (KB) per second.

Looks almost like a typical SD memory card.

Yes and no..

I don't use sony stick but I use SD instead.. They work pretty much the same.

SD X150 4GB vs SDHC 4GB Class 4 S (4MB/s)

I have both cards one has more space about 60MB than the other. I find it strange. Which is quicker? The true SDHC than the none standard SD x150. So don't be fooled into the hype in speed you'll end up speading more for the stick cards. Unless you camera was designed to work with higher speed then you would notice the difference. I have Kodak and mine is designed to work with SDHC 4GB over 3,900 pictures with 80 minutes for sound/video or 8GB.
