Web Design questions
Alright well my boss needs to redesign his webpage, and I'm going to need to follow suite with creating basically the same site in a year. I've made a few sites over the years for people but I am no professional web designer.
First off, don't tell me to hire a web designer. That's not in the cards.
I have dreamweaver (CS3 IIRC) through school, but I'm not entirely sure that it can do what I want. I also don't have and won't be able to realistically afford to get fireworks to go with it. Let me lay out my needs.
Needs to be able to have a "blog" function that my boss can use to make quick updates and random thoughts that aren't worth an entire article in our newsletter.
Needs to be able to incorporate some type of calendar application, preferably one that can have events downloaded into other people's calendars.
Needs to be able to embed other functions in it like pictures, videos, and other basic web functions. I know every program will basically be able to do this.
Needs to be able to make quick updates.
Needs to not just be some basic template website application that you use online. I'm not saying an online web design service isn't a possibility, but I need to have a lot of flexibility in what I do and how I make it look. It can't be just some cookie cutter page from a company.
Nothing here is too difficult, I know, but I'm a bit out of the loop on doing some of the newer stuff with web design. I'm a computer savvy person and I've got some time to learn this summer as part of my job will be working on this.
Thanks guys, we'll see where this goes. I can give much more specific answers as to what I exactly need as we get more into the project. This will be something fast moving as my boss wants a new page launched in a month (doesn't have to have 100 percent of the features in it at launch).
My car won't ever be done because I'm insane. That is all.
