Just wanted to give you guys a heads up on a new virus that's affecting computers all over the place.

The name of it is Think point and its ah nasty bugger.

My wife's pc got hit buy it today and i just spent the last four hours trying to find it and remove it only finding parts of it with every spyware program i had except the one i needed www.malwarebytes.org download the free version now if you do not have it already.

Once it starts to download its to late its in there and it hides very well.

malware bytes is pretty good. if you have any other problems go to www.hackforums.net, and go to the white hat section. make a post about your issues in there. lots of people there are willing to help you clean your computer, and they are really good at it and its free. hackforums is a really cool place, similar to these forums, and if you are interested in computers, or just about anything its pretty cool.

if you want to find white hat, click my link, then sign up.
after you sign up, click computing tab.
you will see white hat help.
click it, then click new post on right hand side.

Malwarebytes Premium FTW! Wouldn't boot a PC without it!

On a side note, I had to make a bootable USB thumb drive with Kaperskey rescue software (in a Linux environment) to save my 15 year old son's laptop the other day. Worked like a charm... then I had to slap him for surfing the porn sites...

This is a problem, I work for a PC repair place and it seems to be spreading very quickly.

There are several of them out there, and yes, they eat a machine... the ones I hate the most are the ones that tell you that they found a virus but you have to pay to get an upgrade in software to clean it. Found many resources on the net to fix those nasty buggers.

What AV software were you running that let it slip through?

It's not the AV software that's letting it slip through. You need www.malwarebytes.org

So what were the symptoms that let you know you had the virus?

Got hit last night. I didn't use malwarebytes. Didn't even know about this thread until now lol.

I used Trinity Rescue Kit for my solution.
