Trying Firefox

After reading about new IE7 being realeased I thought YA, but reading about Firefox in the thread I thought I would at least try it out, being very not insused over IE shutting down on me all the time, And for not every had tryed anything else but IE, I'm liking Firefox so far. I been using it in the site that constanly crash IE and sofar so good. I also like the Google search feature.
Thanks to those that mentined Firefox I think I might stick with it.

I too was apprehensive about switching to anything other than IE, but after trying out Firefox I'm not going back.

Been using Firefox for quite a while, no complaints. No more (well...far fewer) bugs creeping into my system.

Love the multi-tab feature [ctrl-T]

My other favorite plug-ins for firefox:

ForecastFox
(Puts a small, non-intrusive constantly updated weather report on the status bar)
&

Tab Browser Preferences
(Makes it so that links that would normaly open a new browser, open in a tab instead)

Same here. What's even more cool is that you can add search engines and switch to default to a different one if so desired. On my file server, instead of the Google search, my default is a Bit Torrent search.

The Extensions Mirror has a bunch of FF extensions that are not on the official page.

I personally hate tabbed browsing. I guess from all those years of graphic designing/editing, my left hand is used to always being on the keyboard so I find the ALT+TAB command to switch between windows much easier. Also that and I have the Alt+Tab Power Toy where it displays a thumbnail of program I'm switching to. Keyboard shortcuts are much easier than moving the mouse around.

I also prefer the Alt-Tab to tabbed browsing. If IE7 has tabbed browsing I hope there is a way to shut it off. If not I might just stick with ver6 as long as I can.

But if you are a Microsoft hater and just want to use something different I would suggest opera. I think it has a much better GUI than firefox. I tried firefox and thought it sucked.

Ctrl+Tab will cycle between the open tabs

And what is this power toy you speak of? Windows has displayed a thumbnail of the programs in the alt+tab box for as long as i can remember...

Usually it's just the program icon that shows up when you hold down ALT and cycle thru the programs with the TAB key. With the Power Toy, it's an actual screen capture of each program as you cycle thru them with the TAB key.

I don't know if it's available for other versions, but I know for sure it's available for Windows XP.

Go to the microsoft site and search for "XP Power Toys". A list of different tools will come up and you can pick and choose which ones you'd like to install.

**EDIT**
Here is the website.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx

Some that come to mind are. . .

An upgraded calculator that has scientific functions

A handy image resizing program where you can basically right click on any image file and in that menu that pops up, you can choose "resize image" and another screen will pop up for quick resizing of images. That way, you won't have to use Photoshop or what have you to do it.
