Ipod question.

Silly question, but I bought an ipod today. Does it charge when it is in your computer?

USB ports are powered (not much power, but it's better than nothing.) That's how it's charging while plugged in.

USB 1.0 and/or 1.1 will not charge... 2.0 will.

Yes it does charge on both USB 1.1 and 2.0, I know cause I've hooked mine up to both my computers. However, I don't know if this is true for all iPods, I only tried it on the new iPod Video.

I bought the iPod shuffle and it worked on that one, so my guess is that it would.

All iPods charge through any USB port. The only thing is they take a long time to charge as the power coming through the port is minimal. They will charge much quicker going through a wall outlet.

Then I have 1.0 and my iPod does not charge. I typed it poorly, but at the time, I did not remember if I had a 1.0 USB or 1.1 USB.

Now I know, 1.0. It does not charge. Would it make any difference that I have a iPod Mini... not an iPod or iPod Nano...?

USB ports supply 5VDC, at a Maximum power output of 500mA. Not much power at all, but it could charge a battery. ;)

Edit: Thats any USB port btw ;)
