Bad Checksum?

When I try to do an update on spybot I get an error saying "bad checksum" and it fails to download. Anyone any ideas as to why and how I can cure my pc of this. Rgds Max

Probably the server you are trying to download from is overloaded. Try one of the mirror sites. Switching sites worked for me. Here is their FAQ on the issue.

Did using a different server solve it Mad Max? It has for me in the past.

Sad

I am still not having any luck with this spybot thing I am afraid. I have tried to download it and basically it looks as if its downloading but I am pretty sure it is not doing anything! When I try to close spybot it will not do so the only way to loose it is to turn off the pc! I have also tried removing it completely and then doing a re-install a few days later but it makes no differance. I am begining to think I have a problem with my pc as today when I went to log on (my pc is password protected) I got a black screen saying that my pc did not have the ability to do what was being requested of it due to lack of resources!! Hughhhhh???? I had to turn it off and re boot! Anyone have any ideas as to what I can do to get it fixed. I am running Xp with Norton Anti V & Utilities. My Norton does not seem to be able to fix it so I am at a loss!
As if thats not enough I miss driving my Trep, its real snowy here and I will not drive it with all that salt down!!!
Thanks Sad Max!!

Can you start computer in safe mode? So this by continuing to press F8 at startup. If the password is an issue that stopping yu, you must disconnect your cmos battery for 5 min. Afterwards replace battery and all passwords will be erased.

Had the same prob with spybot, I completely uninstalled it, and installed the new version...no problems now....might be spybots way of getting you to up-grade the version......just a thought

I am glad that you were able to fix yours Mike. Sadly I have tried the uninstall route and although it would download some of the new updates it would still fail on 2 of them (and grind to a halt). I then have to restart my pc to make it go away. I have now installed bazooka and so far (touches head!!) wood that seems to be ok on all aspects. I would still like to know if my registry etc is ok as I wonder if that is the "root" cause of some of my problems.
