Zalman Reserator 1 Plus ...?

Anybody have any thoughts/experiences with this? My CPU fans constantly go bad early (I'm a dumbass smoker) and I'm looking into other solutions for CPU cooling. I'm already planning a good filtration system for the case (and a positive pressure difference to avoid infiltration through the cracks) but the CPU fan has always been problematic. I have to replace them about every 3 years or so.

Any comments about the cooling system are welcome ...

I LOVE Zalman products. They are over engineered to work very well. You know that feeling when you're holding something that just feels like it's made to last..

Anyways, I've got the best mod for you. Stop smoking, stop spending over $20 weekly :P Stop breaking cpu fans because of noxious cigarette smoke buildup. (that shit gets everywhere). Improved health to boot. ;)

3 years per CPU fan isn't bad. new ones cost what, $10 each? Why not replace them yourself every 2 years and put the money saved (compated to a $300 Zallman) into more smokes (hehe).

After three years they HAVE to be replaced because they make such a racket. But after only one year they start making noise and that bothers me. I'm planning very quiet case fans (and power) for the next machine and I don't want the peace and quiet ruined by a noisy CPU fan. To top it off the next machine will also have at least one vid fan (SLI or not to SLI - that is the question ) and I expect it'll be just like the CPU fan - noisy after a year. The water cooled systems provide for CPU and vid cooling with almost no noise.

Actually the Zalman units are down to $200. Thermaltake makes a $130 unit but it's not as quiet and I have concerns about heat build-up inside the case with theirs. The external Thermaltake is almost as much as the Zalman unit.

Ain't gonna' happen before retirement. However, you are right about it solving the problem ...

1. Stop smoking (get edgy from nicotine withdrawal)
2. Kill boss
3. Go to jail
4. No more computer (or fans) to worry about

'72 RoadRunner . '02 R/T . '12 Charger SE

.

3" Exhaust - sound files
Dyno runs

nahhh, channel that energy and idle hands into better game play. You're strangling your brain with less oxygen. ;) Or while mid play.. having to just quit and go smoke.. or get a few headshots against ya because you were taking a puff. ;)
