I have a computer program that mimics the Mac's floating application launchbar. You know, that bar that when you hover your mouse over it, it magnifies in size and you can launch apps or files from that bar. If you really want it, I can find out what it is when I get home. It's nice a useful. I also have a screenshot of it at home too.

Maybe check Tucows, they've got a lot of shizzle like that.

Windows Vista now has a floating menu on the right, by default.
I can show you lots of ways to slow your computer down to the point where you think you'll need a new mac. ;) Of course.. there's always obtaining a version of the mac os that is meant to run on the Intel chipset.... ;)

Use Neowin's uxtheme.dll patcher. http://themes.belchfire.net/index.php?showtopic=8767 It replaces M$' uxtheme.dll with one capable of using third-party themes and uses no more resources than the original themes did. You can then go to sites like Belchfire, Customize.org and DeviantArt and get themes to change from Windows defaut Luna to Mac OSX for instance.

Here's the screencap as promised. This was my desktop screencap from one of those threads way back about posting your desktop. The thing I'm talking about is at the top middle. It can be docked anywhere.

Click here to download from download.com

There's no spyware or adware or anything attached to the program. Just a straightforward OS X type of app launcher. Here's the description from download.com:

Quote:
Aqua Dock is a free program that allows you to have an OS X-style animated launch bar and taskbar on your screen that reacts to your mouse when you scroll over it. Users can customize the look of each item on the dock and set various animation options for when the mouse is over an item on the dock. It is very easy to configure.

In short, Aqua Dock is a task bar and a Windows program launcher that does it with Apples style.
Note: The Editor's review say that you can't add your own shortcuts to it, but it must have been just their install. I can add and delete shortcuts from it rather easily.

Yes, I haven't upgraded or done anything to my computer for 5 years... mainly because nothing beyond my Northwood P4 felt, to me, to be a compelling upgrade. I will be upgrading to Conroe (Core 2 Duo) when it comes out, though... because it is a very compelling reason to upgrade; new and better architecture.

As for desktop themes, etc. I found.. and use.. the Windows Vista Transformation Pack, found HERE

It's free, and makes your computer look and sound exactly like Vista (well, maybe not with all of the Aero Glass stuff.. but there is a lot of transparency).

I've been using it for a few days without incident.
