Linux help

well this is whta i want, i have my dual monitor setup as some may know and i have XGL working flawlessly, BUT i want it to be on 2 seperate screens or even one large screen, not just cloning, thats no fun, something like this

http://www.blogsofwar.com/2006/07/16...tor-xgl-setup/

i have an ati x1900xtx and i am using Ubuntu if anyone has any idea how to help out, i heard some people saying the twinview works and others saying that it breaks stuff, same goes with xinemera, so i did not get around to trying either, i am not scared of doing it, just did not have time yet, anything in linux can be fixed as opposed to reinstall, so i will try anything since i am free this weekend

Since you have an ATI when you run fglrxconfig, and it asks you what setup you want for dual monitor, pick 4. Big Desktop, not Dual Head, you'll have less problems this way.

I wish I could help you Jeff, but I think Fedora (or the fglrx driver that I installed afterwards) has a dual-monitor setup built in. BTW, I still haven't installed XGL yet (but on a good note, I just finished the uninstallation of the bcm43xx driver, and the installation of the ndiswrapper (took me forever to find a suitable driver), AND I got WPA support working for it as well

what, i have the bcm4318 driver i think, whatever one is the bitch to install, and i just used ndiswrapper and it went up, as for wpa, i was too lazy to get that working, i downloaded wpa-supplicant, but i done nothing with it since then, and XGL takes away all of 3 minutes of your time to get working, just do it lol. and sinastis, umm, i have a file not found error when i run fglrxconf in terminal, i dont know where it is actually located so i did not know how to run it

I have the same 4318 chipset in my laptop, but it was a bitch to find a driver that would work. I downloaded about 10-15 different windows drivers and installed them all using the ndiswrapper -i <filename.inf> command and all would return "invalid driver". I made sure to reference the files I was downloading with the ndiswrapper wiki page, my pci_id was right, my chipset was right, I don't know why it wouldn't work. It's working now, and I have full encryption working.

I'll get XGL up and running soon. Maybe not this week since I'll be spending some time at the g/f's place and I haven't seen her in a week (if you catch my drift).
