Man, from a P3 this thing is king, though the integrated 6100 is getting eaten by BF2, CoDII, and GR3. Thinking of the 7300 512 until Vista comes and I have to buy a new DX10 card anyways, any ideas? Also thinking of buying x64 Pro, despite the compatibility thing.

Problem though, through My Computer it says the HD is 120GB, but in actuality it's 200GB -- on start-up the BIOS confirms that. How do I get it to show up?

Thanks in advance,

Sean

64 bit windows, blows, i tried my best to use it, good luck with it and using that sound card, after you find all the drivers its realy not one bit of difference, you wont be able to see a speed or realy any performance increase, i dont think that mainstream regular everyday people have a need or are ready for 64 bit technology

How in the hell was Windows installed on your I drive?

Anyways, with that new of a system you should have no problem with any sized hard drives. I'm thinking it was partitioned but only half was formatted.

Go into Administrative Tools-Computer Management(I think)- then Disk Management and check out that hard drive. See if it's been partitioned and if maybe half of it is still raw, not being formatted.

I beg to differ. Yes it has compatability issues, but it is tangibly faster. The biggest problem now is finding antivirus software. Norton doesn't work, you must use Symantec Corporate products instead.

I love the speed. I dont love not being able to run 16bit apps though.... time to fire up the old DOS emulator. Virtual PC to the rescue! VPC is free now.... go get it!

I despise Symantec. If you want to pay, go with Trend or CA.

Avast.com has a home version of their product for free, and it has caught stuff that Symantec AV has missed.

yeah, symantec blows. I use AVG and it has caught stuff that has blown by symantec as well. As an added bonus, AVG is free too. I use Zone Alarm for a firewall, another freebie. I refuse to pay good money for stuff that is garbage.

I'm trying Trend Micro's PCCillin Internet Security 14 beta in conjunction with Vista beta, I like it. Havent tried CA yet, but now that you mention it, I may.

The Norton problems are starting to piss me off.

AVG is in the utils disc!

Someone mentioned AVG! Good stuff! I use it all over the place, it's on every one of the utility discs that come with PCs I sell or repair.

I make sure to leave copies with all my friends. It's 100% freeware and contains enough programs to fix or diagnose just about any problem.

I'll get a list of all the stuff that's on it for yall.

lol, i dont do anything like you guys, i did not like AVG at all, i hate Vista and all the 64 bit crap that they fill your head with, i used 64 bit XP, Vista, and 4 different Linux's, not one did i actually feel a perfromance increase, according to benches there are not that many increases either, BUUUT, will use the antivirus Nod32 which has a 64 bit version availible, 64 bit has potential, its just not established enough now to make me care or go through the hassle of dealing with it

But it's my job to sell the latest and greatest :D

Sure, not everyone needs 64 bit computing, but many want it, even if it's just for bragging rights.

I love selling PCs to gamers! It's also fairly easy for me to sell them a rig because, I'm a gamer too. They know that I understand what their needs are and that assurance that they won't be getting an unupgradeable POS keeps me from being killed by mass market manufacturers.

As a whole, gamers also tend to be more computer literate than my average customer and thus don't call me about stupid crap.

BTW: 64 bit Farcry is awesome!

i am not a gamer, i play games once in awhile and there realy is no 64 bit support for games, yes Farcry, but Google benches on it, you would see that in many vases its SLOWER than the 32 bit. 64 bit OS 64 bit game 64 bit drivers slower or very minimal performance increase. http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...spx?i=2411&p=2 that was just one, a 64 bit cpu is well worth it just because they do work faster than 32 bit ones in a 32 bit environment. not tryomg to be a dick or anything, buut i got my first 63 bit cpu years ago and heavily tested and researched the differences for them, everytime i came up with there being none or ummoticable speed increases. 64 bit cpus i owned, AMD 2-3000+'s, 3200+ 3500+ 3700+ X2 4400+ Intel Pentium D 805 and getting a conroe ASAP, within a month or less. hardware wise 64 bit is the way to go, software, unless you are some kind of developer, its more hassle than what its worth, 5 fps faster in a game is not that great
