Mac vs. Windows PC

I'm kinda curious as to how many people here actually like Macs.

yeah, but windows XP is a Windows 2000 underneath, which in itself is Windows NT 4.0. so it took Microsoft over a decade(+/-) to get the Stability of Windows XP. and that's a decade (+/-) with having all the best programmers available to them. Linux is a FREE, means anyone who writes apps for Linux, does Not get paid. meaning 10's of Thousands upon 10's ofThousands of Good/Great programmers for Microsoft, hundreds, maybe a few thousand Good/Great programmers for Linux.

Linux is the Underdog, but it still the No 1 OS to use with Networking, Servers, Etc....then comes Novell, then Microsoft Nt.4 crap

and unix/linux hasn't been around for 30+ years???.....it hasn't always been as stable as it is now. OS's get better with time.....and Unix/Linux had a head start

but i'm a linux/macOS/windows hater. i feel they can all exist in harmony and each of them has their place. i host this website on a linux server, and will only host in on linux/unix

p.s. i also never had any problems with windows 2000......now NT 4 is another story...

no, Unix has been developed in the late 60', early 70's. Linux didn't start out or didn't pick up till Linus Torvalds has done a lot of work on Linux. which was in early 90's ( think),1992 was whe i got my first copy of Linux.

ummm...but linux is basically a version of unix for the pc (i know there's more to it than that, but in the end, this is true). so it has the benefit of the years of development on unix

yeah basically a tiny of fraction of Linux is Unix. Almost everything else is either new to Linux, or re-wrote from Unix.
if there was a even half of the stuff in Linux made completely ouf of Unix components, it would be a lot better than it is, cause Unix is a Profecional OS. and in Unix, if you'r a programmer, i believe the Motiff Libriary(I always forget which one it is) is (or used to anyway) worth over $10,000, while
in Linux it's free, but it's not as STABLE as the one in Unix

.

Intrepid99 Thanks for that link, i've been looking for that for a while.

you keep throwing out the word "free" like it's a big deal or something. all my OS's are free. i haven't paid for software in years.

i don't mean "FREE" as in $$$.

i and every one else who uses Linux/Unix, knows that "FREE" refers to the SOURCE code. the C, C++ in some cases, the whole nine yards.
for example, In windows, if i don't like how the whole Start menu functions, i Can Not Do shit to it. other than some cheap reg hacks.
In linux, i can Totaly Re-Write it, i can Totaly Erase it, i could have it call ma Master every time i click on Start, and pop up porn stuffs with every subclick. etc. in Linux, u can do what ever you Want, or Can is the better word. in microsoft, You can not do anything.

let me try this 1 more time....
in Wicrosoftworld, everything or almost everything is Copywright protected. and U can not break that rule, you can only Bend it, even slightly at that too.
In Linux, almost everything is Free of Copywright shit, as long as you leave the Name of the Original Coder/Hacker alone, the rest of the code is u'r to do as you please.

but i take it u aren't into Programming?
otherwise u wouldn't refer to a free Source code and you would to the burnt cough ....pirated....cough cd's u've got there.

peaze
