GTA3 (PC) - crashes on load?????

I recently acquired a copy of GTA3 and it works perfectly until i try to load a game. The load bar fills up, but when its done it kicks my out of the game back to my desktop???

was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and/or knew if there was a patch for it? or maybe its just somethign messed up on my copy?

I really want to get this fixed because I plan on learning how to use Z-Modeler to make my Intrepid for the game.

are you using a cracked EXE file?

gamecopyworld has the following instructions to get "back-ups" to work

Install the game - Full Installation.
Apply the official GTA 3 v1.1 Patch.
Copy the contents of the <CD#2>:\AUDIO directory to the <GameDir>\AUDIO directory.
Extract the GTA3_11.COM Patch from the Patch Archive to the game directory.
Execute the Patch to remove the CD-Check from: GTA3.EXE
Play the Game!

so it you have a couple steps to get GTA 3 to run, not just install and run

yes, these steps are only for running a legal back-up copy of software that you have purchased (which this is right?)

please read the warnings before entering gamecopyworld

actually, it might just need the v1.1 patch... check this:

GTA3 patch 1.1
The long awaited patch for GF3 is now here. What's fixed?

Exception error after blue Rockstar load screen fixed.
Error loading saved games fixed.

how stupid would you have to be to release a game that needs a patch before you can load a game?

This is bullsh!t...

Quote:
Installation

Start gta3patch.exe.
After clicking next twice, browse to your installed Grand Theft Auto III directory (the directory where GTA3.EXE resides) and click next.
The patch will check for the presence of your GTA3.EXE file. If the patch finds an un-modified GTA3.EXE, then this file will be updated to version 1.1, otherwise no patching can occur
i guess my EXE file is "modified" :@ :@

there's gotta be some way around that....:@

WoooHOooo! after downloading 10 different things from Gamecopyworld I found one on Kazaa that works

it still wont let me use the patch, but it does let me load my games now and thats all that matters.

now i just need the program to export the cars off the game so i can make my trep that, and i need 4AA batteries because my keyboard is dead. Luckily i have an extra one for just such an occasion, but it is a POS....
