manual deleting of registry entries

I was going through my computer today cleaning out the harddrives, but I have a question. I went to the add/remove software in the control panel and I have some programs that still appear there that are no longer on my computer and when i try to remove them it says it cant find the uninstall program - how do i delete these entries w/o reinstalling the program and uninstalling it correctly?

Run your registry editor. It should be regedit.exe.

Navigate to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall

You will see a list of folders of all the apps, just delete the folders you don't want and the programs should be gone from the add/remove.
